NEW YORK - In an unprecedented move the San Francisco 49ers have saturated their players in two and a half hour "diversity sessions", designed primarily to incorporate tolerance in the NFL locker room.
49er players sat through the sessions that were presented by a tandem duo who discussed sexual orientation diversity (among other things).
In recent years the organization had undergone two "embarrassing" incidents involving the topic of homosexuality. A former player Garrison Hearst had publicly stated that no gay player would be "accepted" in an NFL locker room. The other incident involved repeated, reported, harrassment from players on the team towards the team's long time trainer who himself was openly homosexual. Players reportedly had teased the trainer on various occassions.
Last week in Manhattan, Essera Tualo, a former NFL lineman gave a talk to 200 employees in the NFL offices. Tualo, since his retirement from the game had "come out" to reveal his homosexual practices. Tualo was attempting to convince league officials that they should promote a message of tolerance so that a player could feel comfortable discussing his homosexual desires and still co-exist in the locker room.
There has been some consideration to taking the diversity style training incorporated by the 49ers and instituting it league-wide.

Now the PC movement wants to screw up the NFL and it figures that it would start out in the land of the whispering bushes.
Yeah, I need more diversity in my life. Too bad that will leave less time to watch the PCNFL.
When will the NBA have "diversity training" I wonder?
As a 49er season ticket holder, all I can say is............it's going to be a long, long season.
Does that mean that the players have to pick up dropped soap in the shower for fear that somebody will be offended?
" So that a player could discuss his homosexual desires and not feel uncomfortable"
H#LL---I don't discuss my normal woman/man sexual desires with my closest friends. Why should any player of any sexual desires have to listen to the group which represents less than 6% of the population totally? What a crock of CRAP.
If my "employer" pulled me into this meeting, I would quit on the spot.
Since the percentage of blacks playing professional football and basketball is higher than the population in general, I suggest quotas for other racial groups...
When some guy in the locker room talks about going deep in the end zone, he better damn well be talking about football.
speaking of which ,when the republicans picked Cheney, how
many stories did we get such as how many women and
minorities did you consider before naming (the rich white
guy)Cheney to the ticket?
the dems are never questioned on 95% black support and
NEVER having ANY of them in a position of power.
wonder what jesse thinks about the all rich all
caucasian dem ticket again this time around?
2-1/2 hours? These players already spend hours in the class room and film rooms trying to absorb game plans. Take 2-1/2 hours away for political re-education, and you have a much greater chance of going into a game unprepared...which might be a good thing when they are playing my Eagles. Nevermind!
The NFL has jumped the shark.
Judging by this year's Superbowl halftime performance, the NFL is already screwed up. Anytime you have NFL gatekeepers delegating entertainment decisions to MTV, well, that shows you both where its level of intelligence is in conjunction w/lack of moral discernment. Aside from JJ's expose', the whole NFL-approved show knew and approved the risque & sleazy bump & grind show & JT lyrics, "I'll get you naked by the end of this song"
The SF Giants already have a non-discrimination policy that includes "sexual orientation"...so any potential Giant pedophiles are free from being canned lest they be discriminated against according to their "sexual orientation."
Too bad ESPN pulled the plug on "Playmakers." Great football soap opera.
What does he mean by this? That if a homo football player makes a pass at a straight, the straight has to accept it without comment or if he can comment, the comment must be much nicer than "Keep your f'in hands off of me."
When I read the title of this thread, I thought it meant they were going to let the white guys play.
Now it is safe to discuss the tight end having his backfield in motion with reprisal!
