Ken Lay indicted.
Oh, come on, email her with the comment that John Ascroft prosecuted Kenny Boy. She'll jump out of the nearest window.
I'm glad you point that out. I'm about to go collect a $25 bet I made with a Liberal co-worker who said he'd never be prosecuted. I had to explain that you go for the little fish first and work your way up the chain.
He kept chiding me for Lay/Bush being buddies -- until I read an article that said he and Clinton were thick. I think he was surprised that I found that out. He hasn't uttered a word since.
Clinton also had Halliburton as a "priviledged" contractor who didn't have to submit bids each time because Halliburton did such outstanding work for the U.S. Government.
But we never hear either of those in today's left-wing biased media, do we?
Exactly.
I was distracted.
That's because GWB's main concern is taking everybody's eyes off of government scandals. The federal government's accounting tricks and money waste far exceeds anything Enron ever did.
I don't know if they landed the contract or not, but yes. Clinton used the CIA to do research for Enron for their India project.
And then we wonder why we didn't know enough about islamofascists attacking us.
See my # 36 above.
but they are doing that anyway (or trying to).
its more then just Enron, they became a poster child for the media because they were an "evil energy company". the fraud in tech stocks, and the links with those on wall street, dwarfed Enron.

You forgot to add, and in jail.
Last week a co-worker sent me an anti-Bush email (see previous post), and four or five of the points had to do with Bush and Enron. The co-worker got mad when I challenged the factuality of many of the points, specifically the one that claimed Bush was "protecting" Enron cronies. Your and other posts give me even more facts to rebut these charges - 23 previous indictments, new indictments including Lay, Clinton contacts with Enron, etc.
GOT ROPE?!
Right. This is just another way the Democrats put Republicans on the defensive all the time. By implying - not PROVING - guilt. It's the oldest trick in the book. As much as I love the president, I'll be disappointed if he doesn't begin mentioning it among the list of his administration's accomplishments at every speesh for the next week.
If I Remember Correctly.
Yes but Bush also said that he didn't know Lay very well -I think Bush knew him better than he let on.
We're sure not gonna hold our breath.
This is a big, big story, great news for Bush, because it gives the lie to the Dems accusations that Bush wouldn't be tough on Enron. No matter how many other indictments there were, as long as Lay was not indicted, they would keep repeating that charge. Now that issue has been taken away from them; indeed, now it has swung in Bush's favor.
This doesn't hurt my feelings any. We get what we deserve, sooner or later. I remember watching Lay walk behind his wife & family to their table in a very fancy restaurant. This was years ago before I knew who he was. He must be a womanizer because what caught my attention was the way he checked out all the pretty women as he walked by them. If I had seen my husband do that I would have whacked him.
Back that statement up with fact. Generalities like "The federal government's accounting tricks and money waste far exceeds anything Enron ever did," are not facts.
