Something my wife asked got me wondering: "Suppose we had not liberated Iraq ? What would the Democrats have to use as a club against President Bush ?"
It was a pretty good question, and I think I may have an answer.
The Democrats would be criticizing President Bush because he had NOT liberated Iraq !
They would be criticizing his reluctance to take this "vital next step in the War on Terror".
Ted Kennedy would suggest the President was "a coward". John Kerry would look magisterial, and declare the President was "soft on terrorism".Both would wonder when he planned to use the Armed Forces in our defense-and The New York Times would proclaim the same line.
In short, it would be politics as usual !
Sure, that's the way they play the game.
After all, when we went into Iraq, what was Graham's main criticism....we should be paying attention to Korea.
Dem leadership will never acknowledge that anything Bush has done is good, or has worked.
According to Hugh Hewitt (just a few minutes ago) a story is comming across the wires that says iranian intell agents were arrested in Baghdad today. According to Hewitt they were found with explosives. (i haven't seen anything on FOX myself yet)
I don't think North Korea is next on the list if the story is true.
I wouldnt be here making the fat cash.....thats for sure.....and that would suck!!!
This is politics, either side will say whatever it thinks will help.
Yeah, just think if we invaded Afghanistan.....not much for contractors there, that's for sure.
certainly not as many opportunities as Iraq, but there are some and I almost went there instead of here....
Not that much infrastructure to rebuild.
No there is, it needs to be built in the first place and we are helping that process and funding most of it...
DIID,,DIID!
I didn't realize there was that much re-building being done in Afghanistan, thanks.
well its not really rebuilding....the Afghans havent had a lot ever and even less since the Soviets and then the Taliban came in....we didnt really bomb the crap out of their cities like we did in Baghdad....
To top that off, have you noticed that everyone is saying Afghanistan is the forgotten war? If that is so, how come the press doesnt report more on it?
I may be cynical, but I don't think there is much money to be made in Afghanistan...especially compared to Iraq. Besides, Iraq had a really bad guy in charge of an organised army. Much easier to focus on, and assure a victory over, then some outlaw in Afghanistan.
there is when you are an IT guy associated with military :)...which is what I do mostly....
Exactly so. Look at their criticisms of him over his closeness to Saudi Arabia. Imagine if he did take a hardline stance with the Saudi's. They'd be complaining that we are worsening relations a vital ally in the Middle East! "There goes Bush again. Squandering all that international goodwill from 9/11"
That's what I do also, but I sure as hell don't want to go over there any more than I have to.
