Kerry's Pick Prompted by Polls?
CNS News ^ | 7/6/04

Posted on 07/06/2004 3:25:38 PM PDT by truthandlife

After ABC News reported that Sen. John F. Kerry has commissioned "top-secret polls of various potential running mates," the Republican Party chairman said he looks forward to learning "who polled the best." In a statement, Republican National Committee Chairman Ed Gillespie said, "To John Kerry, the most important criterion for a vice president, and therefore for a potential president, is not experience, accomplishment or judgment, but polling numbers. Once again with John Kerry we see politics in place of principle." Gillespie made the comment before Kerry announced his choice of a running mate.

John Edwards, will not help carry his own state. The Clinton's are happy with the choice, that should tell you something. (hint - its a guaranteed loosing ticket).

This was a very bad choice.

Brings NO electoral votes to ticket.

Wonder how many people he offered it too first?

Next, will Kerry replace McAullife with his own man at DNC, or simply suck it up and accept that Clinton still runs party?

An earlier thread suggested Bill Clinton advised Kerry to go with Edwards.

We can expect Kerry to change his mind in a few days.

Its not a bad choice. It may be a choice that doesn't help Kerry, but it won't hurt him.

The key will be to see how fast and hard the RNC can get a negative ad campaign moving against Edwards on the trial lawyer issue. if they pussyfoot around, and allow Edwards to establish himself as a "champion of average people trying to get justice from their HMOs" through litigation, then the trial lawyer issue may well be a positive for Kerry/Edwards.

Yes, believe it. Remember the demographic segment this ticket is trying to attract - the sheeple are dummies.

My opinion-

John II is a very good choice...He is as LEFT as John I...He is as uncharismatic as John I (to the majority of the Electorate)...McAullife probably dictated the choice (The Clinton's like it...The John-John ticket can't win...leaves 2008 open for the other Clinton (the one who wears the pants).

I agree - brings no electoral votes. (And both Carolina's will go to Bush).

Who really cares to whom he offered the 2nd place on the Dim ticket (not the Vice Presidency)...but we all know he offered it to a Pub from AZ first...and at some point the other Clinton turned it down.

Hard to say what John I (the Ketchup Boy) will do about McAullife...McAullife does represent the Clintoon stamp on the party...the Clintoons may decide it for Ketchup Boy and have McAullife resign. We all know Ke(rry)tchup boy is a STUCK UP SUCK UP, but what ever happens re McAullife, the Clintoons still run the show (and the Secret Service detail with Ketchup Boy have an extrordinarily difficult job (if we are to look at Arkansas history during the Clintoonship times there).

Better alliteration would have been: "Pampered Pompous Pompadour's Pick Prompted by Polls"

Yawn! The selection of John Edwards is pedestrian, ordinary, and predictable. John Kerry simply made the safe and obvious choice. From a purely political perspective, Edwards is neither a bad choice or good choice. North Carolina won't support Kerry, though the Edwards choice may narrow the margin. Maybe some weaker southern states (Arkansas, Louisiana, Florida) will be tougher for Bush, but not one southern state will lean towards Kerry as a result of this. I don't see this changing the dynamics very much.

I just took a look at Mark Steyn's web page and he has, "Pretty boy takes a fancy to Nuancy boy."

I have to go back and read it now.

It will be fun to watch the Battle over the Democratic Party. The Clintons will do something to suck more oxygen away, or maybe a behind the scenes October Surprise of John-John.

I am not much of a conspiracy theory type, but we are talking about the Clintons, LOL.

We'll have to see.

This morning, just moments after the announcement was made, CBS radio news reported Kerry as saying the choice was NOT made as a result of polling.

Guess they began as they meant to continue......LIES LIES LIES LIES AND MORE LIES

I wonder if Kerry really wanted Edwards to be his running mate. Was today's VP selection as a result of Kerry's free will or an act of caving in to donors. Liberal activists and the media were begging Kerry to pick Edwards. I really doubt the media is going to scrutinize John Edwards. I think Gov. Vilsack, Sen Bob Graham, or Sen. Joseph Biden are much better VP choices. Heck they're better Presidential material than French Kerry. All well, one good thing about Edwards is that Bush may be forced to spend more time in the South, and thus make some sort of effort to help Vitter, Coburn, Cain, Burr, and DeMint. In fact, the NC Senate race turn into a referendum on Bush vs. Edwards instead of being a Burr vs. Bowles match.
