FBI urges vigilance for July 4
WASHINGTON (AP) -- A constant stream of intelligence indicating that al Qaeda wants to strike the United States this summer or fall has led federal officials to urge increased vigilance during the Independence Day weekend, but there is no specific threat of an attack timed to the holiday.

Oil is what we may be fighting for soon enough, rather than let people who would destroy us get a stranglehold on our economy.

Pakistan fears suicide attacks on mosques
Karachi, Pakistan, Jul. 2 (UPI) -- Pakistan alerted its security forces Friday following intelligence reports that religious extremists are planning attacks on Shiite mosques.
Witnesses said police and paramilitary troops were deployed at Shiite mosques in the southern port city of Karachi early Friday while they were also patrolling sensitive areas.
When journalists contacted Karachi police for comments they said the deployment aimed at preventing possible extremist attacks. They said Pakistani intelligence agencies had received information that the extremists may use suicide bombers to carry out the attacks.
Karachi, Pakistan's largest city and commercial capital, is plagued with religious and ethnic violence, causing hundreds of deaths during the past two years.
The Shiites, a Muslim religious minority, are often targeted by pro-Taliban extremists because the world's only Shiite state, Iran, had opposed the Taliban regime in Afghanistan and provided military and financial assistance to anti-Taliban forces.
More than 50 people have been killed in suicide bomb attacks on Shiite mosques during the last two months

Agreed all, without qualification.
We just want to avoid the appearance of impropriety, avoid making it look as though FR is facilitating or supporting what may appear to be vigilante action of any kind.
I merely disclaim such activity in general terms.

"vigilante action"I would specifically repudiate any actions taken in a physical sense against anyone unless it is in lawful self defense under circumstances appropriate to such a scenario.
Quix, that was a potent line: "Wise as Serpents; Harmless as Doves." Excellent imagery, well said.

Have we been fanatical here? Has any of us suggested action of ANY type against our neighbors?
I've seen postings like that, but not in this thread as far as I can remember. I also take postings such as those as the emotional venting of frustration, pain, fear, and anger. Better someone vent than act on it.
What we are doing here from my perspective is gathering, analysis, education, and support. I don't view jerseygirl as a vigilante; she was monitoring disruptions in the routine of her environment. I can't believe for a moment that anyone would suggest that we do otherwise. There is no line to cross here, unless we allow some PC chowderhead to create one.
