Strange. Couple of days ago there was a 'report' (rumor?) that he was penniless, living on the streets or in a shelter or something.
What a talent he was......and wasted.

None of us have a clue as to his current whereabouts so we shouldn't speculate.

I didn't care for "Apocalypse Now" but when he replayed the 'Godfather' role in "The Freshman" it was hilarious.

something he didn't believe in

True, if one insists they won't serve God, then serve they won't.

But Brando was obviously known for extravagance. He name is constantly associated with a private south seas island that he purchased. Now someone is suggesting that he lost every last dime, had to move back to seedy LA, and maybe was practically 'living on the streets', maybe in some sleazy west-side neighborhood? Talk about the devil getting his due.

I wonder if anyone can clear that part up?

If I remember correctly, he wasn't the first choice for the Godfather.

Danny Thomas waged a hard fight for the role. I believe he was the choice before Brando nailed it.

Damn. It seems that every other week or so, somebody famous or well-known dies. What the heck is going on? When will this madness stop?

Only when Bush is replaced as president!

Pappy:

Yeah, thats true. I've seen his original screen test somewhere where he comes in, stuffs the tissues in his cheeks, and totally transforms himself before your eyes. It was pretty amazing.

Press Release Anti-Semitism-USA

ADL OUTRAGED BY MARLON BRANDO'S REMARKS ON JEWS IN HOLLYWOOD CALLS ON ACTOR TO REPUDIATE ANTI-SEMITIC CANARD AND APOLOGIZE
New York, NY, April 8, 1996...The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today called actor Marlon Brando's remarks about Jews in Hollywood "outrageous and offensive."

Reacting to Marlon Brando's comments on "Larry King Live," on Friday, April 5, that Jews run Hollywood and exploit stereotypes of minorities, but never of Jews, Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director, issued the following statement:

It was shocking to hear Marlon Brando, the acclaimed actor and champion of civil rights, invoke the anti-Semitic canard that "Hollywood is run by Jews, it is owned by Jews..." and blame Jews for exploiting stereotypes of minorities, "but we never saw the kike because they know perfectly well that's where you draw the wagons around."

Mr. Brando should know that what he said is utterly false, extremely offensive and plays into the hands of anti-Semites and bigots. His comments raise the centuries-old canard of Jewish control and conspiracy, and his use of an anti-Semitic epithet is hurtful to Jews everywhere.

Hollywood studios are owned and movies are made by men and women, some of whom are Jewish, many of whom are not. Those Jews who enter the movie industry have done so as individuals, not as representatives of their religious group or with an aim to act in some coordinated conspiratorial manner.

Mr. Brando owes an apology to the Jewish men and women who work in Hollywood for vilifying them and to all Jews for his stereotyping and use of an anti-Semitic epithet.

The Anti-Defamation League, founded in 1913, is the world's leading organization fighting anti-Semitism through programs and services that counteract hatred, prejudice and bigotry.

You mean his foray into depictions of pedophilia, anal sex, and other such porn (ala Pink Flamingos) didn't bother you? He may have been a good actor, but what a very sad and wretched character he was.

"He had hidden his Oscars to keep them from being taken in a credit judgment"

Hard to believe. Didn't he hate the award? He sent an American Indian, Princess Little Feather or something, to collect one of them for him because he would not attend the ceremony? Turned out she was not even an Indian. He was protesting the treaty arrangements for some tribe or some other Indian issue at the time. I don't think he could have given a damn about the award he would not even pick up for himself and joked about most of the time. He didn't care much for Hollywood either and called it a 'cultural boneyard'. Not far wrong there though.

When will this madness stop?

There's a Peace Protester who marches up and down the main street in my town during Rush Hour with a sign that says "Nobody should Ever Die".

Nice idea, but I see some glitches with it ...
