In the topsy-turvy world of the liberal media, good news is bad news, because good news threatens to bring about the worst news of all from their perspective - the re-election of George W. Bush.
So when the good news of Saddam being put on trial broke yesterday, The Today Show resorted to the ultimate ostrich maneuever and flatly failed to cover the event.
Taken to task over its omission, there was no way that Today could ignore the 'unfortunate' goings-on in Baghdad this morning.
Still, Katie Couric did her earnest best to cast events in the worst possible light for the United States.
Her guest was NY Times reporter John Burns, one of the few journalists permitted in the courtroom.
Burns described Saddam's defiant attitude. This prompted the following gem from Couric (not verbatim - my best approximation):
"To what extent is Saddam's defiance bolstered by anti-American sentiment in Iraq caused by our invasion and occupation of the country?"
That's right. If Saddam, the brutal dictator who murdered hundreds of thousands of his own citizens and invaded Iran and Kuwait is defiant, it's the fault of . . . the United States.
Though Burns has generally, to my knowledge, earned good marks as a journalist, he was all-too-willing to abet Katie's theory. He claimed that "80% of Iraqis strongly condemn the American occupation."
On the other hand, he described any support for Saddam by Iraqis as virtually a mental illness, suggesting that there is barely a family that has not suffered at his hands. Still he claimed that as many Iraqis object to the trial as support it, seeing it as an affront to Iraqi dignity.
In sum, there is no event, no matter how positive, that cannot and will not be spun by the liberal media in the worst possible light for George W. Bush.
I wouldn't call Katie beautiful. She's looking very old, and her hate shows through.
I was thinking of those infobabes you see on the news channels: all dolled up and they have hither-come looks. Made me wonder if there's more than a pretty face to them.
Saddam's defiance IS bolstered by anti-American sentiment, but not in Iraq.
That would be anti-American sentiment contained in the incessant drum beat of fear-of-extinction motivated anti-Bush propaganda proferred by the mainstream media day in and day out. This is the anti-American sentiment which festers within the American political Left in rather open fashion, so open that Saddam is aware of its utility to him, even at this stage of the game.
The task is formidable but the media in the past has shown its ability to sway opinion, such that Saddam has every right to feel he has a chance with such a powerful tool to carry his water.
Seldom has so much mental derangment been illustrated in so succinct a fashion.
I actually admire this sentence.
I think there is a point here. Support for Saddam is a mental illness - the perky one is mentally ill.
Today show mental illness ping.
Katy loves Saddam!
I sincerely believe that most Americans will see through Katie and her ilk's attempt to cast Saddam as a victim. I believe this war has exposed the Liberals lust for power as being stronger than their loyalty to country. It is no accident that Fox News is winning so many viewers, that more people get their news at places like www.freerepublic.com, and that "Talk" radio has replaced the big three networks. The relentless and mindless negativism for partisan advantage cannot be denied any more.
bump. Never watch any of those shows.
I don't either, but just see how off base the perky B!+(# can be. She is one of the terrorists supporters, just like F'ing kerry, kennedy the whale and the rest of the DNC.
Our Katie Couric, that perky one
You wont believe what shes done
Just look and youll see
She shows her butt right on TV
We are sure it will win the sweeps
Though, of course, it gives you the creeps
Children all watch
theyre filled with glee
Its Katies colonoscopy
The nurses are screaming
a nightmare theyre dreaming
Their fear they cannot restrain
The doctor just found Katies brain
So Katies now the butt of their jokes
Inside her each doctor pokes
They cannot believe their eyes
The viewers getting a big surprise
They say she has made history
Something like this youll never see
One screams out, I cant concur
Most Democrats are just like her
The nurses are screaming
a nightmare theyre dreaming
Their fear they cannot restrain
The doctor just found Katies brain
They stitch her up
its finally done
Shell take time off out in the sun
People say each time they pass
Hey, we know your heads in your @ss
The nurses are screaming
a nightmare theyre dreaming
Their fear they cannot restrain
The doctor just found Katies brain
The nurses are screaming
a nightmare theyre dreaming
Their fear they cannot restrain
The doctor just found Katies brain
The only time I will watch the Today Show is the day after Election Day.
Thanks governs.
Looks like Katie has fully recovered from having to cover President Reagan's funeral. Back to business as usual.
If GWB wins, Katie will be wearing mourning clothes.
I believe that MSNBC reporters name is "Chris Jensing??" She has brown, shoulder length hair. I don't watch her anymore. I made the mistake of watching her the day they pulled down Saddam's statue and all she talked about was how bad the soldier was for putting the USA flag on Saddams face. She is a total Kerry supporter and sometimes covers his campaign.
I like MSNBC reporter Alex Witt though. She is blond. She is much more fair and balanced. I haven't seen her lately though.
They just announced on T.V. That There's No Tomorrow, Must be true then.NBC
BOLSHEVIK
Dittos the formerly beautiful Norah O'Donnell. What a disappointment she turned out to be.
If Michael Moore needs a girlfriend,
Couric is his soul mate.
