Kerry Says Get Ready - To Announce Running Mate July 6th - It "Could Be" Hillary
The American Spectator ^

DESPERATE MEASURES
Could it be that desperation is setting in a bit more, well, desperately in the Kerry campaign? Up till now, most political tea leaf readers had Kerry announcing his decision on vice president coming the week of July 11. But recent polling numbers may have Kerry advisers changing those plans.

According to a Kerry campaign source, Sen. John Edwards, Rep. Dick Gephardt, Gov. Tom Vilsack, Gen. Wesley Clark, and "a surprise candidate" were each contacted on Wednesday and told to be prepared for an announcement with Kerry as early as July 6. Each short-lister provided the campaign with updated contact and travel information for the July 4 weekend and afterward.

"It's accelerated. It all began happening on Wednesday," says the campaign source. "For the past week we've been told there was no decision, then all of sudden, this. We've been sifting through some cruddy poll numbers, so maybe that has something to do with it."

Cruddy indeed. New polling from a number of sources, including internal polling, has Kerry struggling and even lagging in a race that by all rights he should be leading by low double digits.

"When you factor in a president down in the 40s of approval, and a candidate that many people claim they don't know much about, there is no way we should be losing Michigan and Pennsylvania. But we are," says the Kerry adviser. "We've spent $50 million and have nothing to show for it. Not a single point."

According to the source, the thinking goes that a complete Kerry ticket out in public sooner rather than later should energize things enough in the media and the base to give Kerry the uptick his people have been waiting for.

There was no indication of who the "surprise" candidate was. "It could be Hillary. It's assumed that she has been vetted on a separate track from the others. At least that's the talk. No one here knows for sure," says the source.

Edwards was due in Boston after the July 4th holiday for campaign appearances, at least one of which was to be with Kerry.

According to a Clinton Senate staffer in New York City, late on Wednesday, a staff colleague called from the road and indicated that "the Senator may need to change some things around next week." "But we weren't told to do anything for now," says the staffer.

Good point...sometimes I let the pessimism get the best of me! I have never understood how or why my family votes the way they do (democrat). Afterall, they're small business owners and Catholics!!! That is why I don't think it matters who the democrat is...they vote for them, it makes no sense and I have talked and talked until I'm blue in the face. Maybe they'll learn...sigh... :o)

I would absolutely love watching Cheney dismantle Hillary in a debate.

I tell you one thing: If it is Hillary, that VP debate is gonna be one to watch.

Dick Cheney is pretty sharp. Let's see how good she really is.

On the negative side, she's Hillary, and thus full of arrogance and spotlight stealing.

True, but the more of kerry people see the less apt they are to vote for him. Having the demon possessed one doing all the talking is a positive for kerry.

As I've been saying for a few years, I'm worried about VICE President Clinton.
Think of it:

• She keeps her promise not to run for president in '04
• Two years and one day into her term the first slotter gets arkincided
• Under Article XXII, she can still run for two full terms as the incumbent
• The Hillary!™ Decade begins
• Hillary uses the Patriot Act to it's fullest extent, and beyond
• At the end of the Hillary!™ Decade there is a National Emergency "temporarily" delaying the elections
• Under the pressure of the National Emergency, the 2nd and 22nd amendments are repealed
• By the time the National Emergency is over all the 'improved' source code for the touch screen electronic balloting will be in place......

Just as an aside, with the Clinton's love of all things Military - War Hero Kerry is VERY expendable, isn't he?

"Bear in mind, Bush does not have to dump Cheney. Bush can move Cheney to NSC as one writer suggested yesterday and have it not look as if Cheney is being sent off to Telluride to live out his days. Cheney would go for this because that would keep him in the game, and reassure Republicans that a sound conservative voice would remain near Bush. Nor does Rice have go through hearings. She can be nominated, while Cheney can serve out his term. Her deputy, Steven Hadley, can handle NSC briefings during the fall campaign."

Good idea. If it's necesary to replace VP Cheney, it will the best way to do.

Did you know Kerry is a decorated veteran?

(Percy's a prefect?)

Hang on! I seem to recall him mentioning it.

Once, or twice.

A minute.

All summer.

Governor Richardson of N.M. says he won't do it. (He may have more sense than I thought?).

I don't think that it's hitlery.

Mark Davis on WBAP-AM 820 says possibly the Pennsylvania Governor.

A Cheney vs Clinton debate would seal it for Bush!

Come on Freepers...... How long has this woman attacked the VP...? In a debate it would give the more brilliant player the platform to really respond to her rhetorical spew.....

And remember, most Americans won't be watching that debate if its Geppy or Eddy......But if it's Hitlery we will have a bigger viewership than Friends!

Primetime, Mainstage...Shrillary gets hammered!
