"WASHINGTON (AFP) - Several members of the House of Representatives have requested the United Nations (news - web sites) to send observers to monitor the November 2 US presidential election to avoid a contentious vote like in 2000, when the outcome was decided by Florida.

Recalling the long, drawn out process in the southern state, nine lawmakers, including four blacks and one Hispanic, sent a letter Thursday to UN Secretary General Kofi Annan (news - web sites) asking that the international body "ensure free and fair elections in America," according to a statement issued by Florida representative Eddie Bernice Johnson, who spearheaded the effort..."

The *commision* isn't named but I suspect it is the US Commission on Civil Rights.

If you have a different idea, this may be a good place to start.

I imagine Rep. Corrine Brown (FL-3)is in the game too.

We put the UN in charge of Oil for Food too.

Their experience from that will help them administrate the Cigarettes for Votes Program.

Actually it might be a good idea. The UN criminals would absorb all the walking around money and sell the buses right out from under the illegal-alien-multiple-voters.

It is truly ashame that some people do think like that, truly ashame.

These are the resident socialists and race-baiters in the Congress.

Why not just wait til Kerry is elected, puts Willie in charge of the UN and then the UN will run the elections in total.

I am speechless. When will the madness stop. These liberals are truly out of control. They are going to implode. Which maybe wouldn't be a bad thing.

They clearly have a vested interest in seeing the Democrats win. The UN is, in fact, the creation of American New Deal liberals (Democrats) in league with communists like Alger Hiss, the first Secretary General of that body. In light of this, it should surprise nobody that the UN has been caught with its thieving hand in the oil-for-food cookie jar. No, no. Far too biased and corrupt to be involved in any country's election.

BUMP.

It was a good idea at the time of it's inception, but now is a tool to spread socialism...

FYI...it was always a tool to spread socialism.

From your link in #50: Senator Inhofe, Chairman of the Committee on Environment and Public Works, held the hearing in response to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee's exclusion of treaty critics from testifying. (re: LOST, Law of the Sea Treaty)

The Enemy Within has infiltrated every major institution. That includes political parties. However, I'm not willing to kiss off the Republican party because I think that's where the last remnants of elected pro-American, pro-Constitution heroes are.

Besides Zell Miller and probably some lower level local elected positions, the Rat party has abandoned all pretense at loyalty. So have certain Republicans like Lugar and Hagel IMO.

Many Republicans are ignorant of what's going on and many feign ignorance. The latter are still useful because if we can be successful in publically informing them, they have to either abandon their masks or support the right political action--even if only temporarily.

Our temporary victories are only holding actions. The Enemy Within never gives up. When they absorb a major defeat (Reagan's election, the fall of the Soviet Union, etc.), they just regroup and work to get whatever they can. We have to be just as tenacious.

I think we're having more success than we realize or they wouldn't be so desperate and increasingly bald-faced. Like they see it slipping away for good if they can't succeed NOW.

They've been patient for generations--about a century. Why is there such a rush now? I think it's because internet/talk radio are informing more and more people. Fewer and fewer trust the MS media.

Thank God we still have heroes like Senator Inhofe helping us expose the evil.

Yall need to get used to this, after all we are living in the new Global community and the new Global community required a strong central government and that is the UN. Since both political parties have bought into the New World Order thing we can expect the UN to play a larger role in our affairs, strike down offensive laws, regulate trade, punish international crime, set international policy, collect UN taxes and all the other stuff government does. It all in plan and it's for your own good.

It is named, it is the US Commission on Civil Rights. AFP (FRANCE) even calls them “bipartisan”. It’s under the executive so guess it’s as bipartisan as the Department of Education, or the Department of Defense.

But the way the story is written, it sounds as if a bipartisan group of Congressmen asked for UN assistance rather than several radical Democrat Congressman asking for assistance with this commission’s report for support.

Check out where the story is posted.

Is there a list of the representatives that signed on to this request??? I'd like to write some letters.

Maybe the UN could monitor Peter Jennings so he doesn't "call" the Florida election an hour before the polls close.

We should establish a volunteer force to preempt this call for help.

Re Republicans backing Law of the Sea Treaty.....

I, too, was furious when I heard about this. The same goes for the DREAM ACT that Sen. Hatch is (maybe was)pushing. Some people think I'm nuts, but when I hear about these things, I immediately call the involved Senator, Frist and Hastert. Maybe it doesn't help, but, I feel I have to ACT not just TALK......it's MY COUNTRY! If many other good Americans would also call, maybe it would make a difference. God help us.

...crown bearer for Moonie.........

I was speechless when I heard this story....but not for long.....I called Frist and Hastert's office to ask, first, why our Senate office bldg was being used for such an event and then strongly suggested that they get their people under control. With all the important issues facing America, Republican and Democrat lawmakers have time to attend a crowning of Rev. Moon?? To say the least, I was not a happy camper when I called their offices. We all must become more active. One voice can be ignored but not thousands or millions.

Gee, he did not get re-elected, did he. Think that this could be just one of the reasons conservative republicans did not find the time to vote that day????? Elect liberal republicans and the base stays home.
