Kerry cited in Catholic heresy case
The Washington Times ^ | July 1st 2004 | By Julia Duin

A Catholic lawyer has filed heresy charges against Sen. John Kerry with the Archdiocese of Boston, accusing the Democratic presidential candidate of bringing "most serious scandal to the American public" by receiving Holy Communion as a pro-choice Catholic.

The 18-page document was sent to the archdiocese June 14, but released to the public only yesterday by Marc Balestrieri, a Los Angeles-based canon lawyer and an assistant judge with the Archdiocese of Los Angeles' tribunal, an ecclesiastical court.

"Heresy is a public, ecclesiastical crime," said Mr. Balestrieri, 33, whose complaint is posted at www.defide.com. "It affects entire communities. It is one of the greatest sins you can commit."

If the Boston Archdiocese, which is refusing comment on the case, decided to press heresy charges, the Massachusetts senator could be excommunicated.

I don't know if that would hurt him or help him. That's just how screwed up our country has become with liberals running rampant over the last few decades.

"I am inviting all baptized Catholics who feel injured by Kerry to join the suit as third parties" by reading the document on the Web site and then sending a certified letter of agreement to the Boston Archdiocese."

Sounds like a cause which should get Freeper Catholics hitting their send buttons.

He won't even get support from the bishops.

Pertinent excerpt:
"People are saying you can be pro-choice and be a good Christian, that it is not contrary to the faith to support aborted murder," Mr. Balestrieri said. "This is a life-threatening heresy."

"He won't even get support from the bishops."

Probably not - but if a truck load of these letters started hitting the Vatican's doormat while Archbishop O'Malley is paying his respects to the Congregations, there might be some pressure brought to bear from on high.

Hopefully neither will get support from the Bishops.

Do you really think it would be good for Dubya's election campaign if the Catholic Church tried to excommunicate Kerry?

Web Link: DEFIDE

Several U.S. bishops have recently voiced their opposition and ersatz reasoning why no one should be denied the Eucharist according to Code of Canon Law n. 915.

Those in the pews are perplexed. Which bishop is correct? Why would some bishops teach that the laws are binding and other bishops teach that they are not? [i]

Quizzically, people are asking ten questions:

Ten questions regarding the denial of the Eucharist.

What web site? I'm missing something here!

"Do you really think it would be good for Dubya's election campaign if the Catholic Church tried to excommunicate Kerry?"

It's not just about getting Bush reelected. It's about some Catholics being tired of having their religion trampled on by those that don't bother trying to learn about it before opening their big mouths to talk about it!! Please, I'm not trying to lash out at you...I'm just a frustrated Catholic! :-)

no, I don't think it would be good at all for Dubya. I just couldn't tell who he meant as the antecedent for "he" in his post.

KERESY should be a public crime. He affects the ENTIRE nation! Voting for him is one of the greatest sins you can commit!!!

So many of the RATS are such complete immoral, phony, hypocrites - they view religion as a vile requisite necessary to "connect" with their lowly subjects.

Between supporting the murder of the innocent unborn, supporting an adulterous, serial-lying, sociopath (Clinton), their constant whining "hatriotic" complaints about America (they must hide during the 4th of July), and their manipulation of the elderly, the poor, and minorities for political gain: SHAME on them!!!

HELL has a very special place for these pompous, arrogant, elitists (and that murderer Kennedy - another MASS. nightmare: see www.ytedk.com).

Gee, I thought the most serious scandal to the American public was the Catholic church's systematic covering up and transferring around of a whole bunch of child molestors in their employ, but what do I know?

I think it would be very good if any politician who pretends to be a good Catholic, a good Christian, is forced to acknowledge they're nothing of the kind. I hope abortion is taken seriously enough for this charge to succeed. I cringe when I hear politicians who say they oppose abortion but are pro-choice, and I also cringe when I hear politicians claim to oppose abotion except in cases of incest or rape.

Do you believe more souls would get saved with Bush as president or with Kerry?
