Haggard Saddam Defies Iraqi Tribunal ["This is all a theater, the real criminal is Bush."]

BAGHDAD - Downcast but defiant, Iraq's deposed dictator Saddam Hussein appeared before an Iraqi tribunal on Thursday, refusing to recognize its authority and saying the "real criminal" was President Bush.

Saddam, who arrived at the courthouse in handcuffs and chains, was read seven charges under a preliminary arrest warrant and told his rights, pool reporters granted access to the heavily guarded proceedings said. "I am Saddam Hussein, president of Iraq," he repeated. Video footage of the 67-year-old Saddam, looking thinner, haggard and with a mostly gray beard, was broadcast around the world soon after his 30-minute court appearance. He had heavy bags under his eyes and was wearing a dark gray jacket and a white shirt, with no tie. It was the first footage shown of Saddam since he appeared unkempt with a bushy beard in photographs and videotape shot after his capture in December.

Saddam refused to recognize that he was guilty of a crime in invading and occupying Kuwait in 1990, telling the judge: "I did that for the Iraqi people. How can you defend these dogs?" The judge reprimanded Saddam for his language and reminded him he was in a court of law. He looked around with half-smile, saying: "This is all a theater, the real criminal is Bush."

He arrived in a U.S. helicopter at a military base and was then driven in an armored bus to the makeshift courtroom in one of his former palaces near Baghdad international airport. Two burly Iraqi guards escorted him into the courthouse where his chains were removed. His handcuffs were taken off inside the courtroom itself, where he sat down facing cameras.

TRIAL MONTHS AWAY
The arraignment was the first step toward a trial which could help Iraq come to terms with 35 years of Baath party brutality, though it may not start for many months.

Your totally right. I saw that to how Iraqi's on the street said Saddam wasn't a criminal. But what this shows is why democracy will never work in Iraq. These people are to delusional. The only democracy that will work is in Kurdistan.

The Iraqi's (not all) must love being lead around by the nose and living in fear.  I don't know........but but I was hoping they would all be grateful.

A few, well vetted interviews with bitter Ba'athists do not a consensus make. Seen the big seller in Baghdad? The battery operated Saddam doll that swings his hips to "Hippy Hippy SHake"?

Apparently, the $oddomite was personally tutored by al Ghorroid on how to behave and respond in this Kangroo Court!

"Socialists all trained out of the same textbook and Stalin wrote it!"

Then it was refined and perfected by Mao, Ho Chi Minh, Castro, Killer Kim, the $oddomite, the Mass Murdering Mullahs of Iran, Arafat, and left wingers in the UK, Europe and of course the top Rats in America.

"This is all a theater . . ."

Enjoy your curtain call, as you are about to exit the play. The critics have panned your performance, Mr. Hussein.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? yes, I have some thoughts. First, as an aside, it's BALD faced, as in "a bald-faced liar," not BOLD faced, as in "bold-faced font." (Sorry) Second, it isn't very hard to get people to say just about anything when you point a camera at them. Do you doubt MSNBC's agenda? If they are not outright rooting for Saddam, they at least are trying to create a controversy, hopefully dividing the audience into two camps.

We saw this with the OJ trial. Anytime it started to look like everyone would think he was guilty or innocent, they would stick some talking head up there to analyze "probable cause," or "reasonable doubt." They did it during the Clinton impeachment. As soon as the general concensus was that he needed to be booted, the talking heads would come up with spurious arguments about personal realtionships and consenting adults, although such things have nothing at all to do with the subornation of perjury. So look to the cable news channels to divide us once again, just to try to get their ratings up.

One of the most gratifying things that I have ever seen was the abortive coverage of the Unabomber trial. I was working in a building next to the courthouse in Sacramento where the Kaczynski trial was to be held. The news media took a block of downtown real estate which was, conveniently, a parking lot, right across the street from the courthouse. I could see them from my window, and had to walk around them during lunch breaks. They had vans and trailers and generators and satellite dishes. They had lights and cameras and tents, all of which took a month to set up. All of the major networks were there, in all of their alphabetic splendor. It was like coitus interruptus for them when the announcement of a plea deal was made. It was a wonderful thing to see. All dressed up on Saturday night, and no place to go.

By using his first court appearance to assert that "Bush is the real criminal," it seems to me Saddam has endorsed Kerry.

That's why I stay with Fox News.  But this morning, Fox had on a Bush Basher.......I couldn't stand to listen to it, so I turned over to MSNBC for a bit.  That is when I saw the interviews of the young Iraqi's defending Saddam.  So I turned back to Fox.

They had vans and trailers and generators and satellite dishes.

Do you remember the Arsenic poisonings in New Sweden, Maine?  It's way north.  I spoke to the brother of the man that was accused of this, and he said that they couldn't leave their house..........all those news vans, trailers, generators and satellite dishes were set up in his front yard.  For weeks and weeks.  He even caught one of them with their ear up against the kitchen door trying to hear them inside.

He didn't look all that haggard to me. So I'd drop that and just make the headline:

The troll hasn't got the idea that he/she is supposed to stick around a few posts to defend his/her DNC-reverse-psyops talking point.

Wow! That cartoon goes straight to the core truth about the modern Dem/Left. Let's remember that Hussein was a Stalin wannabe. Stalin was Hussein's hero, and he tried to model his regime after "Uncle Joe."
