Foreign nationals detained enroute to PA nuke plant on "fishing trip"....

Terror Scare in Luzerne County

State and federal investigators surrounded a van not far from the nuclear power plant near Berwick Tuesday. It happened after a group of five men asked for directions to the plant, saying they wanted to go fishing.

At a time the whole nation is on high alert, the terror scare hit close to home. Five men, four from Bangladesh and one from Pakistan were pulled over on Route 11 around 11:00 Tuesday morning. All the men live in New York City. Police wanted to know if they were terrorists on their way to the nuclear power plant near Berwick.

The commotion was a scary sight for people who live around the area.

"Who knows. Who knows what goes on today? That's the reason I keep my doors locked," said Catherine Rinehimer of Salem Township.

Police said the drama began when the men stopped at the Pennsylvania/New Jersey border. They said they wanted to go fishing and were asking for directions to the nuclear plant. The river near the plant is a popular fishing spot. A statewide alert was put out and that's when the van was stopped.

A bomb sniffing dog was brought in and nothing was found. Police searched the van and stirred up even more suspicion. No fishing equipment was found.

Security has been beefed up at the plant in case the men were acting as diversions to police. Police said you can never be careful.

After being questioned, the five men left the police barracks. They face no charges.

All the men live in New York City

Time for them to be moved to Gitmo.

This is how one tests for reaction times of the defenses of a target.

Yeah, that'll save you if they blow the nuclear plant.

Thanks for the ping.

As I just said, while everyone is looking for them at airports, they could be driving to blow up a nuclear plant...

Yeah, I go fishing all the time without fishing equipment, LOL! (end/sarcasm)

Seriously though, it seems to me if it were in any way related to terrorism, it would have to be as a diversion. A terrorist wouldn't stop and ask directions to the site that they intended to strike.

I don't know the thought of fishing near a NUKE PLANT would seem suspicious enough. What the fish at the toxic dump site weren't biting. Maybe their like Gollum and just planned on using their teeth.

Are you being sarcastic?

20/20 hindsight says they should have been trailed.

Let's hope they were all bugged so that we can keep an eye on them.

Remember, they had no fishing gear.

No fishing equipment was found.

If they had found dynamite I might almost believe that these guys really were going fishing.

Seriously, these guys were from Bangladesh and Pakistan. Do they use rod and reel or just wade out into the pond and catch the fish with their hands? I vote the latter.
