WASHINGTON - Americans are deeply skeptical about the handover of political control to Iraqis when the country has not been stabilized, according to an opinion poll released yesterday.
By a 2-to-1 margin, Americans say the handover of political sovereignty to Iraqis now is not a sign of success but a sign of failure, because the country's stability remains in question, according to a CNN-USA Today-Gallup poll. Still, three-fourths of the poll respondents approved of the U.S. handover of authority to Iraqis.

Idiots, idiots - who do these people use to poll?
Didn't we hear complaint after complaint because we were in Iraq? Bush - Bad, etc., etc. Now, they think it is failure when the Iraqis get their country back with our support? Just what don't they understand?
Guess they were told to think like this. If it has anything to do with Bush - they are against it?
Again - idiots, absolute idiots. And these people look down on the intelligence of the man who freed two nations and millions of people?

I agree. This poll just confirms that the main stream media is skilled at propaganda.

The real reason the hand over was moved up two days was to disrupt the liberals' planned attacks on Bush. Apparently this poll was part of the liberals' arsenal.

Great Post, can't any of them tell the truth, it's scary!!!
It does reinforce my notion of a Bush blowout though.

60% believe it is a signal of failure? Hahaha!
THIS is why I do not understand hysteria over polls. IF this poll were true the liberals wouldn't be trying to hard to spin yesterday's events.
2-1 say transfer is a sign of failure. Yet 3/4ths of this country support transfer?
They are worried the transfer demonstrates a lack of security yet believe it will improve security?
Who took this poll? John Kerry?
This poll is more of a joke than the LA Times Democrat slanted findings. The internals of this poll need to be released.

Somethings not right in this poll. After leading with that headline, the next to last paragraph says:
The Gallup poll found that despite their doubts, a majority, 54 percent, say the transfer of authority could improve the situation in Iraq.
The polling co takes the poll, the network "divines" the headlines.LOL!

(Bush himself would insist that much of the credit goes to the Iraqis; he believed in them, the Dems and the media didn't - nor do many Freepers, I might add.)
I've tried to keep believing in the Iraqi people. I've at least tried to make the point here that we can't just systematically kill the innocent along with the guilty, like with a WMD, but that if a civilian dies being held as a hostage, it is the fault of the man that took them hostage, not ours. I know these people have been terrorized and still are. I understand that the Vietnamese people were terrorized into not helping us and the Iraqis are the same way. It's not that they want Saddam back. For pete's sake, with all the bombings going on there are still less people dying than when Saddam was in power.
Furthermore, the Iraqis are a westernized, educated people, the most cosmopolitan of the Middle East. People don't give Dubya enough credit -- he carefully considered which ME country had the best chance of standing on its own.
Also -- when the rats talk about Internationalizing and bringing in other muslins, I question whether the Iraqis want turks and pakistanis doing security. That would be a bigger mess than having Americans doing it.
Ultimately, I'm with Ann Coulter. I think it is going magnificently. I'm not sure anything like this has ever been done before.

As in anything else, it depends on how you define 'success'. Bush wasn't able to do everything he wanted, but the bottom line questions are whether this makes us safer and was it worth the price. We won't know if this whole project was a success or not for several years, maybe a decade or two.

If something had happened and we had NOT transferred power, the headline would be "60% call failure of US to transfer power a catastrophic mistake." AP'd if you do, Reuter'd if you don't.
LOL! I like that.
To: Blood of Tyrants
liberals see absolutely no contradiction in holding several competing positions on virtually every subject under the sun. I believe they call it "nuance".

No doubt the same 60% who would have accused the US of imperialism if they hadn't turned over rule.

Best response yet...I loved it when it cost a buck to vote rather than a ride in a bus with some chicken wings with careful instructions on which lever to pull.
