If there were no restrictions on age, weight, fitness, etc., would you sign up to join the War on Terror??
This is a vanity poll, due to the news today that the Army may be dipping into the Individual Ready Reserve pool. Several Freepers have indicated they would go if called upon, but they don't think they will be called due to their age.
Please post ONLY ONCE, and ONLY IF YOU WOULD GO, so that we can easily see the tally by looking at the number of replies.

Age 50, 21 year veteran of the US Air Force and would go in a skinny minute if they would have me.
It doesn't take that much to hump a toolbox to the flightline, and it wouldn't take much to pick up where I left off 11 years ago.
Spent 8 1/2 years in Germany planning on throwing a box-end wrench then running like hell. lol
(Not that I can't shoot, but it sure wasn't the Air Force that taught me how... ;)

Yes, if they would take a 45 year old paramedic back. I can't keep up with the young kids any more, though, so I've become an RN in critical care. I'll do disaster response and take care of the home front.

I would do a year in a support job (I don't think women belong in combat zones).
What I would really like to do at my age (50) is teach at one of the military academies and when I finish my PhD, I'm going to give it a try.

I wonder how many there are in their twenties, over at DU, that would? Nada....Nary a Nary.
We have to keep blood on our teeth, keeping in mind that 40% of our population are total idiots and haven't got a clue that our nation could even need defending - ever.

I'm a military brat, now hard core industrial with slight structural damage.
Seven years military academy, Cadet Staff S-1, Company Commander, Adjutant.
If they would take me, I'd join right now.
