Well this quiz labeled me a "neocon" but based only on the fact that it lacked the following, more appropriate category: Apocalyptic Clausewitzian! I differ greatly with most neocons in that I believe the idea of economic globalism to be a naive, utopian farce. I also differ with them in that, I believe we shall progress until the end of time through a series of great wars, of which we have only experienced the first small examples. I believe our great wars will eventually extend into outer space. There is no permanent peace but there are plenty of periods of delusion.

That's where it's flawed. They also did not have enough geopolitical nuances in there - there were no references outside of the China queston which would bring out the substantial differences I have Vs neocons regarding dealing with large nuclear armed powers. Neocons are less aggressive than me in that regard.

TR was more in the neocon paradigm than was McKinley, who I personally think RWR emulated to a great degree. But unlike McKinley RWR had and extremely hostile Congress and media, so he had to back off during his second term. Bush Sr. was a borderline neocon-liberal, Clinton was a liberal-Communist-Marxist - and W? The jury is very much still out. His 2nd term should be telling....

I'm just not sure I like the use of the term "neocon". It seems like a sloppy buzzword to me, that's applied with too little thought by the media.

"Neo" means something new, or a revival of something in a different way. The original use of neocon was as a description for those Dems and liberals who switched to conservatism - hence "new conservatives". Why it should now be used as a buzzword for conservatives who favor interventionism is somewhat puzzling.

I take issue with the 3rd, 4th, and 5th points. I'm not overly concerned with what other nations think, I DO think alliances are important (but NOT absolutely necessary), and weighing political costs, no.
