It's a peculiar thing about biographies. Those written during or shortly after the life of the subject are far inferior to those written more than 50 years after the person has passed away.
"I've taken to calling myself a neorealist in the last few years"
That's it! That's what I am!
. . . Or was it a real conservative?
Realist too!
So I'm gonna get REAL Nov 2nd and Vote BUSH!
HA HA HA.
I think I will share that with our office liberal.
We realists must stick together!
I scored "Bagel-and-cream-cheese-snarfing Most Learned Elder of Zion Neocon."

ROFL
Well this quiz labeled me a "neocon" but based only on the fact that it lacked the following, more appropriate category: Apocalyptic Clausewitzian! I differ greatly with most neocons in that I believe the idea of economic globalism to be a naive, utopian farce. I also differ with them in that, I believe we shall progress until the end of time through a series of great wars, of which we have only experienced the first small examples. I believe our great wars will eventually extend into outer space. There is no permanent peace but there are plenty of periods of delusion.
Yup.
Was there any doubt?
That's where it's flawed. They also did not have enough geopolitical nuances in there - there were no references outside of the China queston which would bring out the substantial differences I have Vs neocons regarding dealing with large nuclear armed powers. Neocons are less aggressive than me in that regard.
I guess I'm a Neo-Conservative...
"In other words a world War on Terror isnt free?"
Not for future generations who will be paying for it, no.
TR was more in the neocon paradigm than was McKinley, who I personally think RWR emulated to a great degree. But unlike McKinley RWR had and extremely hostile Congress and media, so he had to back off during his second term. Bush Sr. was a borderline neocon-liberal, Clinton was a liberal-Communist-Marxist - and W? The jury is very much still out. His 2nd term should be telling....
Hey, brother, I'm a NeoCon, too!
Whoo hoo!
Neocon, neocon!
Like the company too.
I'm just not sure I like the use of the term "neocon". It seems like a sloppy buzzword to me, that's applied with too little thought by the media.
"Neo" means something new, or a revival of something in a different way. The original use of neocon was as a description for those Dems and liberals who switched to conservatism - hence "new conservatives". Why it should now be used as a buzzword for conservatives who favor interventionism is somewhat puzzling.
I was deemed a "neocon" by this quiz - however .... I must say.... US OUT OF THE UN AND UN OUT OF THE US!
Realist
Realists
* Are guided more by practical considerations than ideological vision
* Believe US power is crucial to successful diplomacy - and vice versa
* Don't want US policy options unduly limited by world opinion or ethical considerations
* Believe strong alliances are important to US interests * Weigh the political costs of foreign action
* Believe foreign intervention must be dictated by compelling national interest
I take issue with the 3rd, 4th, and 5th points. I'm not overly concerned with what other nations think, I DO think alliances are important (but NOT absolutely necessary), and weighing political costs, no.
I also share these other points with other categories:
(From Isolationist):
*Are wary of US involvement in the United Nations
* Oppose international law, alliances, and agreements
* Believe the US should not act as a global cop
* Support trade practices that protect American workers
* Oppose liberal immigration yes...
*Desire to preserve what they see as America's national identity and character
(From Neoconservative):
*Want the US to be the world's unchallenged superpower
* Share unwavering support for Israel
* Support American unilateral action
*Push regime change in states deemed threats to the US or its allies
Ah well. I suppose the test is not an exact science.
