Saddam, Flipper FReep Kerry/Streisand Fundraiser in L.A. [PICTURES] (6/24)

Posted on 06/25/2004 8:00:47 PM PDT by markv840

Californians Give Kerry a not so warm welcome

John Kerry had a major fundraiser dinner this Thursday in Los Angeles; Kerry and friends, Neil Diamond, Barbara Streisand, and others met at the Walt Disney Concert hall, where they hosted an event for which tickets ranged from $2,000 to $25,000. This was of course, a great chance to show Mr. Kerry that not all Californians support him, and that when he comes here he’s sure to encounter some resistant. As it has become almost a tradition around here, Kerry’s presence brought on a grandiose demonstration of the FReeping abilities of us Californians.

This amazing demonstration was organized by our ferocious leader RonDog; the FReep went without a hitch. There were about 30 of us, the most notable were of course Saddam (played by RonDog), and Flipper the dolphin. Another highlight of the FReep was a pick-up truck adorned by several conservative messages, e.g. “Kerry is Unfit”; and a group of pro-lifers not far from where we were standing (and they had HUGE signs).

The media was everywhere, and they did several interviews. We all know that the most important thing in every FReep is to get our message heard as loud and clear as possible; and from this point of view this was clearly a success. One of the major advantages we had during this demonstration was the location; the Walt Disney Music Hall is one of the most dazzling buildings in Downtown L.A. and being across the street from such a place gave us a chance to sort of “cut in”. We made a lot of heads turn, and as usual we also made a lot of middle fingers rise. All together, this was everything you’d want a FReep to be like.

Oh Linda, thank you THANK YOU for the fabulous art.
I learned so much about your terrific style, copying it for the poster. My printer's broken, so I had the 40"X60" foam core propped up next to the computer to try and copy it off the screen.

First I sketched it on tracing paper, then took the sketch to Kinko's. They have a new huge machine to blow it up 400%. Was going to use my airbrush but thought it might buckle, so ended up coloring it with pantone markers and pastel, which kept it flat. Soooooo fun.

Wish you could have been there, Tam.
That Disney Concert Hall is spectacular...at least from the outside. Not even the media was allowed to take pictures of the concert, so they photographed us instead!

The "Kodak moment" I loved most was when a huuuge limo stopped at the light in front of us, obviously "Kerrying" someone oh-so-impotant, yet the limo DRIVER was getting the biggest kick out of us, smiling his head off with the window rolled down so he could read all the signs. Priceless.

It was fun seeing all those libs dressed to the hilt, flushing aaaaall that money away. Too bad, so sad :-)

Thank you for pinging me. What a great turn out! I really wish I could have shown up, but of course I had an unscheduled meeting with the probate attorney that royally pissed me off.

To everyone that was there, you rock!

It's breaking my heart to be so far away... I would have dearly loved to have been there!

The Kodak moment you described must have been absolutely priceless... He must have chuckled up a storm knowing how furious his passenger would be if he/she knew the driver was smiling at you all and enjoying your signs :-)

You all did an incredible job at putting Kerry and all those smarmy, brainless celebs in their places... my heroes :-)

Thanks for the ping... that dolphin is just adorable :-)

You just want to go up and give it a big hug... well, maybe liberals don't LOL

Thank you. It was the greatest honor to be there representing your work. I felt like we were all of one mind in this, doing whatever good we could.

I recognized an adorable Viet Namese lady from the Veterans for Bush rally here in San Diego last weekend. She was so excited, chattering to her husband in Viet Namese.

You really felt the passion all these people had.
It's one thing to get each others' great support here on FR, but to actually stand there confronting liberals, facing the world and the media...it puts it all in perspective. You should've heard all honks and thumbs up.

That costume looks warm. Note that the pics indicate that the costume is suitable evening wear, pearls might be in order. For day time activities I vote for the balloons.

Look forward to reports from Iowa.
