Gays: We'll out 2-faced Bushies
WASHINGTON - Opponents of a proposed constitutional amendment outlawing same-sex marriage are threatening to expose gay government officials who support such a ban. "We are looking at members of Congress and we are looking at administration officials," said gay activist John Aravosis. "They think they can attack their community by day and enjoy themselves by night."
Aravosis and fellow gay activist Mike Rogers said they have a handful of names of Bush administration officials, gay congressmen and senior congressional aides who have kept their sexual orientation private but support the amendment. Senate debate on the proposal is set for next month.

Ooooooooggaaaahhhhh! That will really change people's votes. Isn't blackmail illegal?
"Isn't blackmail illegal?"
I don't think it's blackmail if it's a fact.
This could get interesting.
Aids is way up in LA, they're "indignant" that someone should want to regulate(not close), their bathe houses and sex clubs, by requiring condoms.
Personally I hope these morons don't use condoms.
There was a court case about this wasn't there, when it was ruled not slander to call someone gay if they are not?
Yep......and there might be a law about making threats toward government officials.
It most certainly is blackmail. If these people have not chosen to make their preferences public or political (which is what many people here ask for) what else could this be called? I think it's sick and typical leftist behavior. I would hope nobody here would attack anybody they named and deny the activist creeps any satisfaction.
Boy these people are arrogant!
Yes it is. If I know you committed a murder, and I tell you that I'll keep quiet for $25,000, that's blackmail and I would be prosecuted for it, even though the allegation is true.
Isn't it possible that gay people might actually not want gay marriage?
I'm not a lawyer. Maybe someone here who is more familiar with criminal law could put their two cents in.
Whatever you do, don't give it up to become a blackmailer.
I live in West Hollywood - homo heaven on the Left Coast. I knew this was the case when I bought my home here. I am tolerant...I don't go out queer-baiting or encouraging violence against homosexuals. But toleration does NOT mean acceptance and I, for one, am getting a little bit tired of all the wailing and gnashing of teeth by the "butt-boys" et al. Enough already!! SSZ
Bring it on...uh, don't bring it on, just crawl back under your rocks and do whatever homos do...
Are you kidding? Most blackmail threats are based on fact.
I don't think this is blackmail though, because they are not demanding any action in exchange for keeping the secret. This is pure intimidation, politics of personal destruction.
"Isn't it possible that gay people might actually not want gay marriage?"
I expect most don't care. It's the radicals that are making all the noise.
John Aravosis, a gay activist who led a boycott of Dr. Laura Schlessingers television show three years ago, recently started a petition aimed at stopping a constitutional amendment that would ban gay marriage.
We certainly favor gay marriage and are pushing for that, but dont you dare amend the Constitution, Aravosis said. It was the religious right freaking out and attacking us that made us decide now is the time to launch this.
The Million for Marriage campaign allows voters to sign a vow saying, I DO: I do support the right of every American to marry, including gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender couples.
What we need is people perceived as staunch Democrats, staunch Republicans and staunch independents who are saying, Im not even supporting my party, Aravosis said.
The quest for marriage is a new frontier in the gay rights movement, and battling opponents requires unprecedented unity among activists and organizations, according to gay activists.
I think the overriding imperative for our community is to unite against the threat we are facing, said Matt Foreman, executive director of the National Gay & Lesbian Task Force. If we dont unite, were going to lose, and lose badly.
The best thing that anyone that is accused could do is follow Hillary's lead, ignore it. Actually, I think that would be a good come back, they should all say that they are simply going to follow Hillary's lead on similar allegations, and just move on.
Perhaps you are confusing blackmail with slander/libel?
