NEW YORK - President Bill Clinton has claimed that he can find no connection between Iraq and Al Qaeda. The former President made this assertion despite his own Justice Department citing just such a connection.
Clinton made the comments on the 'Today' show with Katie Couric. He asserted "All I can tell you is...I never saw it (the connection between Al Qaeda in Iraq)".
But according to a report filed by his own justice department dating back to 1998 just such a connection was cited. And it was cited in an actual indictment of Osama bin Ladin.
From the indictment's fourth paragraph: "Al Qaida reached an understanding with the government of Iraq that al Qaida would not work against that government and that on particular projects, specifically including weapons development, al Qaida would work cooperatively with the Government of Iraq."

Kinda like Paula Jones and Juanita Broadrick saying NO...
...but bill saying Yes.
Breaking news will be if Clinton is ever caught telling the truth.
I'm shocked, SHOCKED!
Not exactly news...I mean, if the Dems held George repsonsible for everything "his" government said, they could say he was "lying" about greenhouse emissions. We don't really want to open that can of worms.
Didn't *he have *his eyes closed most of the time?
"But according to a report filed by his own justice department dating back to 1998 just such a connection was cited. And it was cited in an actual indictment of Osama bin Ladin."
There's no source here, how reliable is this? An "indictment"...isn't that Clinton's justice department "charging" the government of Iraq to make this deal with al Qaida...Does the "indictment have to be true, or only suspicious on the investigators' charge? Or does there have to be evidence to make the indictment?
Thanks for the link. A very good quote indeed:
"In addition, al Qaeda reached an understanding with the Government of Iraq that al Qaeda would not work against that government and that on particular projects, specifically including weapons development, al Qaeda would work cooperatively with the Government of Iraq,"
Gore was VP for eight years and today he said there is no connection between Al Qaida and Iraq.
Didn't Clinton also lie about this in his new tome ..?? Saying it wasn't in the indictment .. so some such drivel ..??
But Fox showed a clip of him totally contradicting himself.
Bizarro World
I wonder what ALPHAgore really thinks about his being connected with the most vile presidency in Our Nation's history.
He'd defend himslelf by saying, 'there was no controling legal authority. Billy just did what he felt like doing because he could.'
LOL
I haven't listened to Clinton but have read a few threads; the subject did come up and I think he said he didn't remember.
Great!
