Amen! 'Course, when I was 19, the drinking age was 19, so I've never had to worry about this "must be 21" crap.

If you are old enough to vote, you should be old enough to buy a beer.

If you are old enough to volunteer, and die for your country, you should be old enough to buy a beer.

And if you fight for your country, we should all buy you a beer.

Well, why not? If someone is adult enough at 18 to go die for their country, and vote, and pay taxes, why aren't they adult enough to drink?

Absolutely. If you're old enough to die for your country in military service, get married, get sued, etc., etc., you're old enough to enjoy a drink! Ridiculous law. I'm so sick of the MADD nannies.

I agree with him completely. If they can vote at 18, be drafted at 18 and serve our country in the military at 18 then they should be able to drink.

"If you're in the military, great, you can drink on base" he said.

I don't think it works that way, the posts/bases follow the local laws as far as I remember.

You put it much more eloquently than I but the sentiment is the same.

Definitely makes sense. I'm a college student, so I see kids all the time who know they won't get served in bars, so they'll drink themselves into oblivion in their rooms before they go out...this kind of thing factors into every alcohol related college death you'll ever hear about. If kids can get served in bars, suddenly getting sh*tfaced isn't all that exciting and dangerous anymore.

If you can sign a contract, go to "big person" jail and die for your country, you can have a beer

My suggestion: drink at 16, drive at 21. This way, you'll have five years to practice before you can get in trouble.

I remember back in 1977 being told I couldn't buy a beer when stationed in Southern California. So, I spent my beer money at the base EM Club.

If you can die for your country, you damn well should be able to buy a cold one. Its the very very least that should be done.

OR...we could raise the voting age to 21 as well as the age to volunteer for the military.

Of course the dims would never go for the voting age being raised because they would lose too much of their constituency...once they get into the real life they start to vote republican in greater numbers. That's why the dims always work hard to drum up support amongst students that don't have a clue about the real world.

Hmmmm. I think I counted this article mentioning that Pete Coors had something to do with beer, what...
FOUR TIMES?
Gee. Ya think mentioning it once would be enough?

Absolutely. The drinking age moved to 21 in SD just as I turned 21, thank goodness.

Nope, Federal Installations are exempt. If you are in the military, you can buy a beer at the base Club.
