Threatening Calls Flood Embassies of Middle Eastern Countries in Seoul
By Yoon Won-sup
Staff Reporter
Embassies from the Middle Eastern countries to South Korea were found to have received many telephone calls from Koreans threatening to kill their people here since a Korean hostage was executed by terrorists in Iraq.
The Iranian Embassy received as many as 20 calls, and embassies of Qatar and Saudi Arabia received about five each, according to officials at the missions.
``We have received 20 phone calls from angry Korean people exclaiming, `I will kill you since the Korean hostage accident went public, Iranian Ambassador to Seoul Jahanbaksh Mozaffari told The Korea Times in an exclusive interview on Thursday.
The ambassador continued that it is very sad that the Iraqi insurgents criminal act has created this atmosphere here, adding, ``Koreans need to know Iraq from Iran.
Other Middle East countries embassies in Seoul have also received calls from Koreans criticizing them for the slain Korean hostage.
In fact, public opinion in South Korea has suddenly turned against Muslims after Korean interpreter Kim Sun-il was killed by Iraqi militants in the Middle East country.
``Please, do not link the hideous accident to Islam, Arabs and Muslims, Mozaffari stressed. ``It has nothing to do with those things, and Koreas negative sentiment toward Middle East countries does not help for Iraqi reconstruction at all.
Fortunately, the embassy has not received any reports of mishaps involving Iranian people here and South Koreans upset by the beheading case, the ambassador said.
On the other hand, the diplomat said he fully understands the pain Koreans feel due to the tragedy in Iraq because his country has also experienced similar incidents in the past on numerous occasions.
``A few years ago, all the Iranian diplomats at the Iranian consulate in Mazarsharif, Afghanistan, were killed by the terrorist group Al-Qaida, he explained. ``Our people are also victims of Iraqi insurgents.
Meanwhile, the ambassador was concerned that the United States, leader of the coalition forces in Iraq, might make use of this sad event as an excuse to extend their military presence there.
Life-taking incidents are a daily occurrence in the war-devastated country, and the U.S. may take advantage of the worsening security to maintain their forces in Iraq, he said.
``Though our country had a war for years with Iraq, we also feel sympathy for ordinary Iraqi people because they came under the occupation of the U.S. right after they were released from dictator Saddam Hussein.
The ambassador made clear his countrys position on the Iraqi situation, saying that the U.S.-led forces in Iraq should be pulled out as soon as possible and the authority transfer be conducted as scheduled within this month.
20 calls constitute a "Flood"?
When it comes to threatening calls, 20 for a day is indeed a flood.:)
Ping!
He believes that statement like he believes in the f***ing Tooth Fairy.
A flood? And screw the Iranian Theocratic Tyrant Mullahs straight to the pit...
Dearest Ambassador:
Iraqi insurgents = Iranian terrorists. South Koreans are keenly aware of the difference.
OLA
Ha! Yeah, they finally get themselves out from under Saddam, and we jump in real quick and occupy them. Bad luck!
Finally. It's a start. Thumbs up to South Korea for being the first!
What goes around comes around.
Bad Karma.
Here let me diffuse the situation and insult Korea further.
The Indians, Russians, Chineese and most other civilized peoples are beginning to see the Muslims for the barbarians they really are. The entire world will eventually turn on them and it will be ugly.
We need many many more ACTIONS not phone calls!
We can start with those countries' 'diplomats' - using their own laws of "an eye for an eye' and see how fast they burrow back down their holes!
What business is it of Iran if we continue to stay in Iraq after the transfer? NONE!
I think the Iraqis have figured out that the mad mullahs are circling their country like a bunch of vultures just waiting for the US to leave.
``A few years ago, all the Iranian diplomats at the Iranian consulate in Mazarsharif, Afghanistan, were killed by the terrorist group Al-Qaida, he explained. ``Our people are also victims of Iraqi insurgents.
So this embassy person has obviously concluded that there is no doubt a connection between Al Quaida and Iraq...hmmm.
The Capt.
Lets's hope so! The sooner the better.
Absolutely! It would be very interesting to see the Muslims reaction to the treatment they deserve rather than the one they are getting from the lefties now.
Can we dump gasoline down them holes when they go back in? Maybe strike a match er somthin?
