I didn't know about the Reagan connection. However, it does not surprise me that Reagan impacted those actors you listed. I suspect the same could be said for perhaps hundreds in Hollywood during the 40's & 50's.

BTW - My uncle was a permanent musician on the Doris Day Show. He also worked for another "lady", when a muscian working for Liberache. LOL

My wife and I stayed in Carmel recently. We were surprised to see dogs running free down at the beach there, cavorting in the waves, etc. From what we learned, freedom for dogs on the Carmel beach is due to Doris Day.

Oh and do you remember (I can't remember which movie) where she had (dang! I can not remember her name...she had red hair and played Bewitched's mother) her friend who worked in the cafeteria? It was like one of those old ones with the people behind the vending machines...for lack of a better way of describing it..I think they called them an automat?

two of my favorite Doris Day films are not comedies: Midnight Lace with Rex Harrison (where she's being stalked) and The Man Who Knew Too Much with James Stewart... i remember being surprised at how good she was in these drama/suspense films...

When Rock Hudson died DD was quoted as saying
"IF..... There is a Heaven I'm sure Rock
is there because he was such a kind person"

Left me wondering about her Spiritual condition.

If President Bush took her advice and stopped hunting, would John F'n Kerry have to run another photo-op that showed him not holding a shotgun but maybe with some birding glasses? "He observes birds but doesn't shoot them." Or maybe "I shot birds before I didn't shoot them"?

It would be another opportunity to show himself in a color-coordinated athletic outfit. He could show us what the well-dressed Boston Brahman birder wears these days.

I love all the older movies!

And the actors and actresses back when they made great movies and actors just were that!

Actors!

Not like the ones now a days, who try to also get into politics, actors and actresses like Doris Day did not get into politics, and when they did, like Ronald Reagan, they would quit acting all together.

These people were ACTORS not ACTIVISTS. I guess that's what I'm saying.

When I think of Doris singing (and she was well before my time actually), I think of:

You won't admit you love me

And so,

how am I ever

to know,

You always tell me

Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps.....
