"Geppie is Kerry's VP choice. The unions have spoken."

Oh please. Gephardt may or may not be JFK's choice, but whomever it is will get the union lapdogs' support. They will do whatever they are commanded by Senator "Aye for NAFTA" Kerry.

I bet Edwards is feeling small and insignificant about now.

Maybe not. I bet Edwards was offered the VP spot and told Kerry to take a hike.

McCain should accept Kerry's offer--then endorse Bush after he wins the 'Rats' nomination.

Kerry can't select McCain as his running mate. How could he possibly run an effective campaign if the GOP just runs continuous ads showing McCain's whole-hearted endorsement of George W. Bush (from last week)?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember reading an article which stated McCain's home state strictly forbid him from running for veep and the Senate, and the deadline to file for running for the senate has already passed....

If McCain was stringing him along, he enjoyed slapping him down so much, he wants get it right the next time, get all the alphabet news together and slam Kerry good, gotta do it live because it wouldn't get ANY coverage any other way.

I hope McCain does it.

So far they haven't picked this up. They hate fox news and if it doesn't have a link they won't pick it up and will think its all rumor. They actually think that the whole thing about Kerry asking McCain was made up by the right wing. I wish we had a link to this.

How big of a bunch of idiots do they take us for? If these conversations were real, they'd be behind closed doors. File this with Kerry's mourning of Reagen: a silly attempt at looking moderate.

I can't imagine would turn down the opportunity to run for Veep. Having run for V.P, or being V.P., are well known stepping stones to the presidency.

But if a lot of the main contenders turned Kerry down, it would be rich. No such luck, most are going around campaigning for the job. I think we're missing the important factor here that Kerry has a hard time making decisions.

(Rolls eyes) How many times does this make?

I've said it a thousand times, and I'll say it again: If Kerry has to CONTINUALLY ask McCain to be his veep, then he knows no one on his side is gonna get the job done! The only thing Kerry is getting out of this is looking more pathetic and useless than he already is.

McCain has nothing to gain by joining with Kerry. But I heard somone say that if Kerry should win, he would probably offer McCain the position of Sec. of State, a position that McCain would much rather have the VP. He might go for that. And like someone allluded to on this thread, I find it troublesome that both Pres. & VP candidates have had cancer.

How many people who have been on the losing end as the VP nominee have gone on to become president?

"Kerry had a meeting with Edwards yesterday..."

Their meeting must have reinforced Kerry's belief that Edwards would upstage him, being a more appealing candidate than himself.

Jealous contempt overriding reason!

Tnat would be nice of them to do...

But still, it makes sense. Kerry's been begging McCain since he won the nomination--he knows he's got slim pickins' on his side.
