Shrek 2 is trash. Lord knows that kid's minds are confused enough with all that is taking place within the world today. With same-sex marriage, the door to some U.S. schools being opened for the transgenderism message, and show after show on TV showing same-sex couples dating, "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy", etc...the last thing kids need is subtle messages being placed within kids minds about mental disorders like crossdressing/transgenderism.
There has been concern, but I don't really think that's a big deal in those stories.
So you think that the mental disorder of crossdressing/transgenderism should be given the 'ok' message?
Dustin Hoffman in "Tootsie".
"You can click to the TVC website, and look at "A Gender Identity Disorder Goes Mainstream" As well, Gender-Identity-Disored/Cross dressing are still considered mental disorders by the American Psychiatric Association, though the APA, probably, will sooner-or-later change that."
I didn't find a button there for "Shriveled Old Crones With Too Much Time On Their Hands Disorder"
Geez...
tick tick tick tick ticking away.....
These complaints remind me of that black columnist who complained about the racist theme of the movie (At one point, Eddie Murphy's donkey turns into a beautiful WHITE stallion! At the VERY end, when the same character realizes he's got babies he says, in a fully "black" voice "I gotta get a JOB!").
Let folks enjoy the film, its harmless.
This, and the bit about Pinocchio wearing women's underwear, seems to go beyond innocent Flip Wilson/Bugs Bunny stuff.
My main problem with it was the fairy godmother was an evil factory owning capitalist. I guess she represented "Big Magic".
I thought the "ugly step-sister" being a cross-dressing guy to be quite funny.
I knew a few kids with parents like this guy. They were constantly told there was evil in everything.
Many of these kids are basket cases today.
Bugs Bunny put on womens clothes all the time I watched the loony tunes quite a bit in my childhood.
Not a cross dresser am I,"trans" anything or homo either.
Sometimes I think we adults read too much into cartoons, instead of just laughing and letting our kids laugh.
Did Eddie Murphy have a hand in the creation of this character?
You didn't have to tell me and others that you were a shriveled old crone. Nevertheless, we will try to accept you just as you are.
Amen Blunt.
Methinks some of these folks need to worry more about the large stick in their backsides, than fussing and hand wringing over an animated movie....
You have that right that there is no innocent kids movie, antmore.
"'some people have too much time on their hands and need to get a life'"
The same could be said of all of us constantly posting here.
Once again the members of the Traditional Values Coalition demonstrate their stupidity.
"No doubt! This reminds me of all the hysteria over the cover of the Little Mermaid video...and of the Styx song "too much time on my hands"....
tick tick tick tick ticking away....."
Damn, and I liked that song by Styx....LOL!
I liked Shrek, have it on DVD, and I don't have kids. Plan on getting the second installment when its available.
I try to keep my entertainment seperated from my politics most of the time. Life's a bit fuller because of it, in my opinion.
