Sorry, John Kerry: Ralph Nader today boosted his chances of bagging the Green Party's endorsement by tapping longtime Green activist Peter Camejo as his running mate."Camejo, an investment adviser from Folsom, Calif., had been one of two leading contenders for the Green Party's presidential nomination," the Associated Press reported.
He got stomped by Arnold Schwarzenegger in his last bid for office: governor of California.
Ben Manski, one of the Greens' five co-chairmen, said: "This is an opportunity for Nader to make an overture to the party membership. I think it certainly would put him much more in the running but not a guarantee."
The party convenes Wednesday in Milwaukee.
The Reform Party has already endorsed Nader.
Latest Silly Opinion Poll
If anyone is following the opinion polls touted by the media, the latest survey of registered voters by Pew Research Center shows President Bush with 48 percent and Sen. Kerry with 46 percent, and a margin of error of at least 2.5 percentage points.
Gee, maybe Kerry should blunt Nader's pick by naming Camejo his running mate.
. . . certainly. Nader's now splitting the hate-America commie vote, something sKerry NEEDS to even have a shot at winning. . .
Camejo received somewhere around 6% of the votes in the CA Recall special election, I recall.
If Nader can merge Green support with Perotista support, he can make a sizeable dent which not only will cut into Kerry's "anybody but Bush" appeal but will also set up Nader to do the same thing in 2008, if he's still alive.
I questioned why he didn't want to run as a Green this time but now I understand. He wants to be the "pox on both your houses" candidate. And if he can get enough momentum behind him, he'll have the foundation for 2008. Of course, he still won't get into the debates.
Soitenly. Camejo will drain all the Greenies away from Kerry. You can be sure none of them were going to vote for President Bush.

I wouldn't give them 2 cents.
Left: John Kerry and Ralph Nader in front of the cameras.
Right: John Kerry and Ralph Nader behind closed doors, after shedding their business suits.
Or more ideologically pure Marxist-Leninists, if you prefer. Permanent Revolution and so forth.
You have to think about this from the position of a spoiler. Nader doesn't need to appeal to the mainstream since at best he'll probably only get 5% of the vote. If he can get 3% of voters to support him by sharing his ticket with a communist, then he's done very well.
This is actually good for us too since the more obviously leftist the Nader ticket is the less the chance of him getting conservative protest voters that are disillusioned with Bush. There is a tendency to think that all votes for Nader would automatically be votes for Kerry if he weren't in the race, but that's not necessarily true. There are Republicans out there who voted for him as their way of saying "none of the above". I'm ashamed to say I'm related to two of them.
This puts California into play for Bush and Republicans I think...along with Arnold looking so good there.
Finally Californias can see the difference between a business-oriented Republican and a vote-buying Democrats in charge.
sign their petitions!
Nope. Camejo split the idiot vote with Huffington, even after she dropped out. Both got around 1%
That means that Nader, a natural 2%'er has teamed up with Camejo, a natural 1%'er. Should be quite a juggernaut.
But if Kerry keeps pissing off the Deaniacs, these two could get up to 7%. Sweeet!!
That means if Nader is nominated as a "Greenie" he is on more state ballots and will suck the Deanie and Kookcinich votes from Kerry in 23 states instead of 7.
Sounds good to me!
Camejo got 2% in the recall election... however, he got OVER 5% in the 2002 Governor's election (well over 10% in the Bay Area!)
Hahah! That is a great post and hillarious comparison!!! I cant stop laughing!!!
Very appropriate!!!!
