My E-Mail to Dave Berkman of Wisconsin Public Radio:
During your 3:00 show this afternoon, I heard you claim 98% of Iraqiis don't view the US as liberating Iraq per some poll. It didn't ring very true to me. So I looked up recent polls on the internet, here's what I found so far.
Here's a more recent article:
I don't see your 98% figure.
Steve Case
Dave Berkman's Response:
I read this yesterday as I wrote something about it for my column. I read 4 papers a day, the JS, USA Today the Chi Trib & the NYTimes. It was in one of those (I daonlty recall which) -- but it was specific as to the CPA poll sponsorship and the 2%.

Does anyone know of any recent poll that has this 98% figure Berkman talked about in today's show?

If he really said this, then it's a preposterous lie. There is no such thing as a 98% response on any poll. If the question was "Do you want steel spikes driven into your head?" the "No" response would probably come in at about 95%, tops.

This guy has spun a survey about what Iraqi people think of Americans into an "either/or" thing that wasn't in the poll.
This was yesterday's news anyway, but the deal is Iraqis generally think of the United States as an occupying power.
They are getting smarter ever since Saddam was dragged from that hole. It's hard to fault them on knowing what we are doing over there which is, of course, occupying their country~!

The question is why were you listening to his drivel? Just because you paid for it doesn't mean you have to listen.

98% figure is ridiculous to say the least.
However, June 30 is the handover date and Iraqis will only have themselves to blame.

Poll Shows 99% of Iraqiis Don't Want U.S. There. [NPR Talk Show Host Claims]Yeah...I'm sure they'd rather still have Saddam Hussein killing and maiming their population by the hunderds of thousands.
The liberal media can be profoundly asinine.

Do you have his emails? I imagine a lot of Freepers would like to make further inquiries of him. Perhaps convince him to get off his lying duff and dig up the 1 of 4 papers he claims to have remembered seeing his imaginary number.

I heard it too. Bill O'Reilly read the poll on his radio show a couple days ago. It was something like 70% didn't want us there, 28% wanted us to leave soon, and 2% wanted us to stay. I don't remember where O'Reilly was reading the poll from but he quoted the author of the poll and the figures a couple times.

Goode Olde David. Why don't ya'know that Goode Olde David is a worn out communist from the 1960's. Goode Odle David is one of the last avowed communists in Milwaukee and spends his time driving back and forth to Madison so that he will not be entirely lonely. What a lonely man!
A close relative of mine had the Goode Odle David as a Prof
that student had to take a shower after every class.
The student had to lie through Goode Olde David's class in order to get a passing grade in a mandatory class.

Don't fret. Even if it were true, it would be meaningless. A similar poll in Germany after WW2 would have shown the the same. While the population ate US food and accepted everything they were given to help them rebuild their country, they wrote slogans on walls and fences; Yankee Go Home. I remember. I was there.
Dave Berkman, who ever he is, seems to be a very twisted creature with no understanding of human nature and no knowledge of history.
The Romans brought civilization to europe - no one thought to thank them, either. Look how much bad press they are still getting more than two thousand years later!
