My answer would be.......... Who cares?, we have a job to do, and when it's over, we will leave
If he really said this, then it's a preposterous lie. There is no such thing as a 98% response on any poll. If the question was "Do you want steel spikes driven into your head?" the "No" response would probably come in at about 95%, tops.
This was yesterday's news anyway, but the deal is Iraqis generally think of the United States as an occupying power.
They are getting smarter ever since Saddam was dragged from that hole. It's hard to fault them on knowing what we are doing over there which is, of course, occupying their country~!
The question is why were you listening to his drivel? Just because you paid for it doesn't mean you have to listen.
Sample size.... 40 Iraqis.
Yeah...I'm sure they'd rather still have Saddam Hussein killing and maiming their population by the hunderds of thousands.
The liberal media can be profoundly asinine.
Do you have his emails? I imagine a lot of Freepers would like to make further inquiries of him. Perhaps convince him to get off his lying duff and dig up the 1 of 4 papers he claims to have remembered seeing his imaginary number.
I heard it too. Bill O'Reilly read the poll on his radio show a couple days ago. It was something like 70% didn't want us there, 28% wanted us to leave soon, and 2% wanted us to stay. I don't remember where O'Reilly was reading the poll from but he quoted the author of the poll and the figures a couple times.
Don't fret. Even if it were true, it would be meaningless. A similar poll in Germany after WW2 would have shown the the same. While the population ate US food and accepted everything they were given to help them rebuild their country, they wrote slogans on walls and fences; Yankee Go Home. I remember. I was there.
Dave Berkman, who ever he is, seems to be a very twisted creature with no understanding of human nature and no knowledge of history.
The Romans brought civilization to europe - no one thought to thank them, either. Look how much bad press they are still getting more than two thousand years later!
the elite conspiracy to suck up taxpayers' money by academic appointments, grants, self- and mutual congratulation in review articles, positions on public radio, travel perks to the MLA and other important "conferences" which pays for drinking Heineken in little front rooms with bentwood rockers and avocado plants, bookshelves full of Noam Chomsky and books on the 'poetry' of Bob Dylan and other cheap imitations of Dylan Thomas('Baby, put on 'Diamonds and Rust')cute wooden carvings of imaginary animals from Mexico --
I have to stop myself.
The LA Times took a similar poll of 100 Iraqis, and found that 340% wanted the U.S. out of Iraq.
Sorry, but NPR and a guy with the name of Berkman don't interest me whatsoever. No way, no how.
98%!? You have got to be kidding me. I highly doubt that 98% of Iraquis want us gone.
And every day our brave troops have to listen to 10 hours of morale undermining NPR lies on Armed Forces radio, but one hour of Rush is too much.
Let the troops vote for the programs they want to hear - I think that's the least we can do for them. Surely, even the libs must think our guys deserve to hear what they want to, right? Right?
Even if this were true (which I doubt after reading SGT Tibbet's story yesterday)...but EVEN if it were true would it really matter?
Isn't our purpose there to achieve our own objectives that will enhance our own security?
Perhaps we should have taken a poll before WWII to see if the Japanese and Germans really wanted us to enter the war....and then let that be the determining factor.
Would that be idiotic or am I the one who a wacko?!?
Must be the same 98% that voted for Hussein in the last election, LOL.
Wait, maybe there were 100% that voted for him, so 2% have seen the light.
