I'm looking forward to seeing your governor at the Convention; I'm not impressed by the list of "stars" for horse-face. Most are has-beens.

Well, answer the following questions for me:

Is there any serious doubt as to the answers to these questions?

Yes, he's a social liberal. Big deal; California's a socially liberal state. Bush isn't, and he's the nominee. Arnold isn't even eligible to become President.

Does Arnold have some say about how much time he campaigns?

I think he has the primary concern here in CA, he appears to be trying to backing current Republicans and may be helping unseat non-cooperative Dems.

I don't think though that Arnold wants to campaign outside of the state.

Honey, you're just re-fighting a McClintock/Arnold battle that you've long ago lost. Give it up.

You people pop onto every Arnold thread with stale insults and insist on re-fighting a war you've already lost. It gets old.

If anyone posts a thread that dares mention Arnold, here you people come loaded with your retreaded attacks, as predictable as floods after rainstorms.

McClintock lost. He didn't win 56% of the vote. Get over it.

You will note that I did not post on this thread until you chose to post falsehoods and personal attacks. I aim for honesty and accuracy, regardless of who wins the fight.

>>>Found that poll yet?

Yes I did, Miss Marple.

Don't be so impatient. My word is my bond. And like you, I don't live on FreeRepublic.

calcowgirl posted the results of that Gallup poll I refered to, at post #138 this thread. Thank you calcowgirl.

The actual free weblink no longer exists at the Gallup website. That's why calcowgirl couldn't supply a direct link to the article. I have the article on my PC`s hard drive. But I can't post it without access to a server.

However, the data from that Gallup poll does exist at several websites, including The Claremont Institute website. The specific data shows up halfway down the page. For arguments sake, I will post the data.

As you can clearly see, MM, McClintock would have beaten Bustamonte 56% to 37%.

-------------------------------------------------------

"You give McClintock a much greater percentage than other predictions I've seen, and 20% for McClintock would tell me that he was very electable, if Arnold was not in the race, contrary to arguments from establishment Republicans."

Gallup Poll shows that McClintock beats Bustamante so why settle for a RINO when you can have the real deal, a true conservative Republican Governor.

"Furthermore, when McClintock is pitted against just Bustamante, among probable voters the Republican state senator beats the Democratic candidate handily -- by 19 percentage points.

"If the choice were between Cruz Bustamante, the Democrat and Tom McClintock, the Republican, who would you be more likely to vote for [ROTATED -- Cruz Bustamante, (or) Tom McClintock]?"

2003 Sep 25-27 ----- Bustamante - McClintock - NEITHER (vol.) - OTHER (vol.) - No opinion

Registered Voters ----- 42% ------- 49% --------- 6% ------------- * ------------- 3%

Probable Voters ------- 37% ------- 56% --------- 5% ------------- * ------------- 2%

(vol.) Volunteered response * Less than 0.5%

And 100% of people who eat pickles will die... statistics mean nothing if the context is utterly skewed.

The poll was not only an outlier, but nobody ever campaigned against McClintock. The left campaiged FOR him almost as much as they did Bustamante. McClintock lost his minor race the year before and Simon was trounced for Governor in favor of the corrupt Davis the year before.

McClintock wouldn't have stood a chance if it was just him against Bustamante without Schwarzenegger taking all dirty mudslinging against the right. It's pathetic that you folks know this but won't acknowledge it.

Those who want the Republican party and agenda to fail are no purists.

The Recall sure taught me that.
That's why they were labeled "so-called purists."
The Recall 'debates' here on FR (if you can call them that...dehates was more like it) really exposed the raw underbelly of the martyrs...and there's nothing "pure" about them.

I never hear gratitude from them, or appreciation. As if that's some kind of weakness. Arnold's strengths-- his joy, humor, enthusiasm & intelligence-- are contagious. Young voters admire and respect him. Fans who only knew about his movie fame have been privvy to his political prowess.

It's cool to be unapologetically Republican and Arnold deserves kudos for that.

A weak effort at spin. Means nothing. I pinged you out of courtesy. My intention was to have the facts of the poll speak to the truth and not your perception of reality. The poll question was asked just prior to the recall election and is valid. You don't like the conclusion it reaches because it opposes your anti-conservative agenda. Well, too bad.

The same way it has Guillani,Pataki,McCain and others. We are a big tent. And most of these people have high profile. Use them for what it is worth. Unlike the left who bury people like Zell Miller nad Joe Liberman.

I don't recall who posted that Reagan quote for the first time. But later someone else recognized its value and posted it as a separate thread. That's where I go to find it, when I need it -- which is quite often. :)

Ronald Reagan on the importance of political compromise(in his own words)
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/960104/posts

""When I began entering into the give and take of legislative bargaining in Sacramento, a lot of the most radical conservatives who had supported me during the election didn't like it.

"Compromise" was a dirty word to them and they wouldn't face the fact that we couldn't get all of what we wanted today. They wanted all or nothing and they wanted it all at once. If you don't get it all, some said, don't take anything.

"I'd learned while negotiating union contracts that you seldom got everything you asked for. And I agreed with FDR, who said in 1933: 'I have no expectations of making a hit every time I come to bat. What I seek is the highest possible batting average.'

"If you got seventy-five or eighty percent of what you were asking for, I say, you take it and fight for the rest later, and that's what I told these radical conservatives who never got used to it."

For the most part, I ignore them.
Like Democrats, the purists on our side
resort to lies and distortions whenever
they can;t win a debate.

This is one of those times.
Governor Arnold has a 67% approval rating.
He will be of nothing but help to POTUS's campaign.
Arnold has always worked for our GOP candidates in
every election. He'll do it again this time,
and from a powerful seat, as CA's governor.

Arnold commands attention.
People LIKE him.
I know he'll be given a prime time speaking spot.

I must say "good nite"
I am fading fast.
Nite yall.

My brother originally was a McClintock fan. Then voted for Ahnold at the last moment. Last night he told me that ARNOLD is not only a GREAT Governor in the Ronald Reagan style, but he hopes that the laws change so that Arnold can be our next President in 4 years.

He is so very pleased with Arnold. For the first time in many years he has a lilt to his voice when talking about his governor.

How about that.. and they don't come much more conservative than my San Bernardino area brother and his family.

This article is pure liberal spin. If Arnold speaks
at the convention, no one will be offended but
partisan Democrats -- who will be reminded of Gray Davis,
the recall, the fact that the California GOP is coming
back to life, and the fact that a "cool" mega-celebrity
is in our party, not theirs.

The real question is whether he'll campaign for the president outside California. He should. The idea that his greater celebrity wattage would make Bush look bad is ridiculous.

My perception of reality? Okay then, lets see you post the list of hit articles in major media against McClintock compared to Schwarzenegger... list the negative TV ads against him... show me where Davis/Bustamante/Clintons spoke negatively about him as much as Arnold.

You don't have the courage to admit you can't....

Thanks so much for telling me about him, my family out there is very pleased with Arnold, too! They felt more in tune with McClintock's position on the issues but knew he'd never win the recall. They are thrilled with what Arnold has accomplished for California :-)
