Rush Says 9/11 Commission Member DID Find Iraq/AQ Connections
June 16, 2004 | Vanity

Posted on 06/17/2004 9:13:56 AM PDT by Peach

Rush just said that one of the 9/11 Commission Hearing members has written the media complaining that they have taken ONE line out of context.

They HAVE found Iraq/AQ connections, but haven't found that Iraq was involved in 9/11. Even though they were't charged WITH even looking at that.

And Bush has never claimed that Iraq was behind 9/11.

GW never backs away from telling the truth.

You need to back down blaming the republicans whenever the liberal media trots out lies. Before the republicans can respond, you are all over them. You sound like Pat Buchanan with those rants. Give it a rest and vent your ire on those who deserve it, the Rats.

"HE hasn't done so thus far and I'll be horribly disappointed if he continues his meek, timid defense of his policies and the fact that there are and were connections between Iraq and AQ."

A lot of us have had it up to our ears with your constant sniping/carping at our president. Grow up and vent your ire against those who deserve it.

Grandpa Dave -

Until today, I don't believe I have sniped at this president.

And if you feeling that he doesn't stand up for himself upsets you so much, why don't you try a nicer tone and some examples where you think I am wrong instead of attacks?

I can see that many of my fellow freepers agree with me, btw.

A man who lets the media beat up on him and lie about him repeatedly isn't handling himself well. The media has lied that Bush said the threat was imminent, They have lied that he said Iraq was tied to 9/11. They have been lying about it for over a YEAR. Yet, I can cound on one hand when Bush has commented on their lies or tried to correct them.

Anyone who knows me knows that I adore this president and will vote for him and work for him. Does that mean he's perfect? No. And he'd be the first one to admit that.

But a LOT of us have noticed that he's lost his vigor in some way. His spirit.

Frankly, I think by spending nearly 8 hours on FR today slamming the appropriate threads with those links about how IRaq and AQ are tied together is a GREAT support for the president and I am trying to do what he doesn't do very well himself - DEFEND HIS POSITIONS!

I do not appreciate your tone or agree with your comments.

Peach, you take a snipe at republicans in most of your replies that I have read.

I'm tired of so called republicans acting like the president, his cabinet and our congress people are free fire zones.

You snipe at our president and you will get return fire from those of us protecting him. That "lost his vigor" is another cheap snipe by cheap shot artists who post that bs.

Russian source skeptical about 9/11 panel's conclusions
Interfax ^ | June 17 2004

Posted on 06/17/2004 1:29:23 PM PDT by knighthawk

MOSCOW. June 17 (Interfax) - A Russian intelligence source expressed skepticism on Thursday about conclusions drawn by the U.S. commission investigating the September 11 attacks. The source argued that the point that there is "no credible evidence" of any link between the Saddam Hussein regime and al-Qaeda attacks and other conclusions made by the commission failed to draw a comprehensive picture of what Iraq was like two years ago. "Separated from other elements of the Iraqi problem, the conclusions and generalizations that have been made cannot be recognized as objective," the source told Interfax. He said Russian intelligence services possessed no evidence of any links between Saddam and al-Qaeda either. However, he went on, Russian intelligence received a report early in 2002 that Iraqi secret services were organizing terrorist attacks on U.S. territory and against U.S. diplomatic and military facilities outside the United States. "This information was more than once passed on to our American partners in oral and written form in the fall of 2002," the source said. He expressed support for the position Russia took at the start of the U.S.-led war against Iraq but said that, "nevertheless, in investigating the causes of the Iraq crisis, it is necessary to take into account all the aspects, including the direct threat to the U.S. from the Saddam Hussein regime."

Dave - I think you may be thinking of someone else.

My defense of the president is as strong as anyone's around here.

And if you think Bush hasn't lost some vigor, you haven't been reading the many, many posters who have said the exact same thing for months.

You think it's sniping at the president for not defending himself more vigorously against the smears and lies by the mainstream press. I think it's a defense of the president himself that I'm so upset by the smears and lies.

And you have not responded to the fact that I've now spent nearly 9 hours on FR posting a lengthy list of defense against some of those smears and lies. I'd call that a pretty committed defense of the president.

What have you done to get him re-elected today?

I have been battling cheap shot artists like you on FR.

Besides that I have sent out to my email list over 50 people good stuff from FR that I have seen this past 24 hours.

That lack of vigor is the same bs that the Buckanites trotted out about GW's dad. Thanks to them and the Peronistas, America elected the Clintoon.

Defend GW, but don't be a Brutus with the knife while defending him!

The links below were composed by me. IT took days. I have been slamming the threads today with EVERY SINGLE appropriate article I can think to slam them with.

All in order to give conservatives amunition to use against the leftists. I have stayed on the threads and responded to requests for specific pieces of information, specific threads.

I have added to the threads those articles Freepers have sent me. It has now taken over 9 hours ALONE today.

When asked yesterday by the press why the president feels that AQ and Iraq had a relationship, he gave a ONE word answer. Zarkawai (sp?). He could have, and should have given a history lesson. I've cited today on many threads what he could have said. IT's frustrating that he didn't.

He can get through the liberal filter. He can teach. I don't think he's his father.

And to be called a cheap shot artist by you is beyond the pale. ANYONE who knows me know that I support this president fully. Does that mean I think he's perfect? Absolutely not. Neither does he.

And if you haven't seen the hundreds of freepers who have said lately that freepers could give a better defense of the Iraq/AQ connections better than the president has, then you haven't been reading the threads I have.

It's groovy that Colin Powell is on some radio show (as mentioned by a previous freeper). But when you're the president and asked to answer something that resonates with people, more than a ONE word answer is called for.
We know Saddam worked with the PLO and other terrorists, he funded them. He at LEAST knew that 9/11 was coming.

Less than two months before 9/11/01, the state-controlled Iraqi newspaper “Al-Nasiriya” carried a column headlined, “American, an Obsession called Osama Bin Ladin.” (July 21, 2001)

In the piece, Baath Party writer Naeem Abd Muhalhal predicted that bin Laden would attack the US “with the seriousness of the Bedouin of the desert about the way he will try to bomb the Pentagon after he destroys the White House.”

The same state-approved column also insisted that bin Laden “will strike America on the arm that is already hurting,” and that the US “will curse the memory of Frank Sinatra every time he hears his songs” – an apparent reference to the Sinatra classic, “New York, New York”.

Good work. Keep it up. Just, please watch the cheap shots at GW while doing this good work.

I have asked a couple of the graphic artists on Free Republic to come with a "Cheapshot of the Day at GW by a Freeper" award.

That will be 'rewarded' to any freeper who takes a cheap shot at our president and his cabinet. It will be like the Axis of Whining Weasel award and the Peter B Arnett award, I used to present to the "true" conservatives here on FR.

Lets not be the ones to make it easy for al Querry and his lunatic lib buddies this year. Lets bury them in November.
They will take enough cheap shots at GW, his cabinet and loyal republicans without us doing it. They control the media, and will all ways be first on the attack. Many of our responses are never published by them until Freepers get hold of them and get them out.

If al Querry is elected president, we can kiss this nation and our families good bye.

I agree with you about Kerry.

What I don't agree is:

#1. That there is NO room for honest criticism of the president or his cabinet especially in the gentle manner I have complained. To say that he isn't doing enough to defend himself is hardly harsh.

#2. To call me a cheap shot artist is cruel, rude and incorrect and I resent it deeply. I'm having a bad day and have always respected you as a freeper and would ask to be treated with the same courtesy.

#3. Knowing that media types and WH types read FR, it is my hope that some of what I consider gentle criticism will be taken to heart and perhaps a change will come about. The most recent RNC survey I filled out asked me if I thought the president should defend his policies more forcefully. Considering the care that goes into every question, I can only assume that there is concern about this matter at the highest levels.

I just heard Gorelick say on NPR that the commission meant that broadly, and not just in regards to 9/11, there was not a collaborative relationship between Al Qaeda and Iraq. That's consistent with Hamilton's statement. The facts according to all the commission are that there was a discussion of sorts, but that Al Qaeda decided that they didn't want to collaborate on Iraq's terms, only on Al Qaeda's terms, and broke off talks.
