El Paso is the nastiest city I've ever had the displeasure of visiting - hot, smelly, dirty, and the people were uglier than Houstonians. Amarillo is a VERY close second.
Boy I'll agree with that.
One of the worst hikes I've ever taken in my life was to the top of Guadalupe Peak in June.....ick.
Sweatiest city, eh? I wonder if we have a picture of Algore appearing there? Yech!
Phoenix? I know it's blazing hot (I lived there one summer), but it's much drier than the other cities mentioned.
I think this is a racist study. We all know how many Aztlan-americans live in El Paso and we know America's racist views of Aztlan-americans as "sweaty" and "greasy" and other such names.
This is an attempt to "Bell Curve" the Aztlan-american community.
I demand that the Eurocentric regime in Washington D.C. pay reperations for this outrage.
This is being widely reported, but I find it real difficult to swallow. El Paso average summer high temperatures may be 93 degrees, but this is a far cry from the average temperature. The numbers I've seen show summer RH in the 50-65% average for morning and around 30% for afternoon.
I can state from experience that El Paso ain't nearly as sweaty as Houston!
People must have a lot of time on their hands to do a study like this. I assume the study was funded by our tax dollars.
These guys need to recalculate things. The humidity is only high here a couple of months.
Houston is far sweatier. You can break a sweat there sitting still in February in 50 degree weather.
Trust me, I've lived in both places.
Why do people do this to themselves?
Biloxi Ms., aka "the arm-pit of the United States"...
I seriously doubt El Paso is as humid as it is portrayed. And I know Greenville, SC, second place in this silly listing, is not nearly as unpleasant in the summer as is Columbia, which didn't rate a mention.
Greenville, in the foothills of the Blue Ridge, is about 1050 feet above sea level; Columbia, 100 miles southeast of Greenville, is close to some serious swamps, and is 190 feet above sea level. Average hi/lo July temps in Greenville are 88/68; in Columbia, 92/70. The site I went to didn't have humidity stats, but I'd bet Columbia's humidity is higher. Columbia is absolutely one of the most miserable places in the summer (the weather, I mean; the people are nice) I've ever encountered. No way Greenville is worse.
Yeah, but it's a dry sweat, unless your swimming to the near shore to find work.
"HELL PASO" is more like it. Why anybody decided to inhabit this area is beyond me.
It feels like being in an oven!
El Paso may be the sweatiest city, but "Cool Hand Luke" is still the sweatiest movie ever made!
*"Cheers" -1982
Any location in which Ol' Crusty may be found is, by default, the sweatiest city on the planet.
I only sweat when I swim.
Houston should be in the top four, if not the top. It seems more humid than El Paso, although El Paso is hot.
I've only driven through El Paso, so I can't back up the article. However, I nominate Columbus, GA, for honorable mention at least. Talk about sweat!
But which city has the most spit?
