BAGHDAD, Iraq - A rocket slammed into a U.S. logistics base near the city of Balad Wednesday afternoon, killing two U.S. soldiers and wounding 21 people, the military said.
Fourteen of the injured were taken to the U.S. Army's 31st Combat Support Hospital and seven were treated at a clinic on the U.S. base, known as Camp Anaconda, according to a military statement.
Balad is 50 miles north of Baghdad.
Praying for our troops
Say a prayer for those men and their families.
Unfortunately, now I know what story will be front and center on the Star Ledger tomorrow morning.
Prayers for the 106AVN.....
I've got a friend there.
I'll call Mike and see what he knows....probably nothing yet..
OK, let me know
Prayers for the wounded and the loved ones of those killed..May God be with them all.
Prayers for all of our troops, for all the coalition troops.
We have adopted a soldier thru Adopt A Platoon.com - these announcements take on a whole new meaning now.
Thanks for adopting a soldier. It does make it more personal this way if you have no relatives in Iraq, which I think is a good thing for all of us.
I wrote my company asking if they planned to send packages to our troops in harms way. Still waiting....
A rocket?? I don't understand, what is the range for the weapon? Don't the troops patrol?
He's checking...just talked to his major this a.m....via e-mail...they are moving to Kuwait....prayers for 106th and 1/106th AVN......Chinooks and Blackhawks
Thank you on behalf of my son. The troops enjoy these gifts.
BTW the press reports on the action tend to be very spotty. During the fighting down near the "Holy Cities" the uS bases took something like 600 motoar rounds. The press reports gave only a hint of this.
My son-in-law is based in Camp Anaconda. Every one of these announcements make me a nervous wreck.
F/106th is not there, they went to Kuwait Yesterday, are currently in Cp Doha, No word on the 1/106th avn bn, still checking.
thanks....
Your welcome, Dear. I am still checking on the 106th Bn. Fired off some quick e-mails.
It could be a truck-mounted rocket, maybe ? Hizbollah uses these everytime to strike Israel from Southern Lebanon.
Thanks for the reports, Top.
God Bless you and yours...and I mean that to mean your troops as well as your family!
