NEW YORK -- Having already won an Oscar, a Palme d'Or, and international fame, filmmaker Michael Moore is launching his latest film, ''Fahrenheit 9/11," this week with an even more ambitious goal -- to influence the outcome of this year's presidential election.

Moore, in front of an enthusiastic crowd of celebrities, said, ''It would be a good thing" if his politically charged documentary about Sept. 11 and Iraq inspires Democrats to vote against President Bush. In keeping with the Democratic movement to elect ''anybody but Bush," Moore did not say a word about the presumptive Democratic nominee, either on screen or in his impromptu remarks afterward.

''If you look at Michael Moore, this is the guy who, when he wrapped his arms around Wes Clark's candidacy, Wes Clark imploded within 48 hours," Bush campaign spokeswoman Nicolle Devenish said ''I'd be interested to see what lengths John Kerry goes to to keep his distance from the movie."

Once again, when I read that Moore had photos months ago, it makes me wonder if some of those involved in the prison photos had a political motivation for taking the pictures or posing for them.

I hate when the media gets it wrong. All articles mentioning these award should give their correct title. Should read;

You know how they say sometimes your first thought is your "best thought."

Well, the minute those photos surfaced, I told my husband, these were staged for political purposes. But then I heard that the Navy had been investigating since Jan. and the story how a soldier over there had contacted his dad, etc.

So, when I heard that Moore had photos, for months, I immediately begin to wonder how long he's had them, and where did he get them. Why didn't he turn them in, etc.?

It does make one wonder!

But on the other hand, I can't imagine a soldier willing to be court-martialed in order to make a "political statement."

It is interesting that propaganda has become so normalized that a film like Farenheit 9/11 can have an impact on an election. In times past the dishonesty of false discourse or the admission of it would automatically be a negative to a campaign. Now lying is accepted without question, mainly because it happens across the board.

There has been a cadre of leftists and just plain non-conformists that infiltrated the armed services, and went in with the intent of mocking and defaming the perception of military life, devaluing it in the eyes of the public. There has ALWAYS been such a jeering, anti-authority, back-talking and argumentative minority within the ranks of the armed services, and because of the very nature of the organization, they have had plenty of opportunity to carry out their objectives. Objectives, I might add, that were NOT of benefit to the goals of the commanders of the units.

The US Forces are subject to something called the Uniform Code of Military Justice, which spells out what is not permitted and punishments to be accorded for infraction of this code. Over history, most well-organized military and para-military forces have had similar codes, most with much harsher penalties for failure to conform to the highest standards of deportmant and conduct.

Not trying to be confrontational, but I can't imagine a "soldier" crashing a plane into a building to make a political statement either! But that is also rational thinking. Fanatics will do anything if it will advance their cause. Hell one look at Kerrys voting record will prove that!!LOL!!

I don't know about the effects of his bullshit flicks but the effects of his walking and causing the earth to tremble from his lardass is having a detrimental effect on the sidewalks out on the Left Coast. They are crumbling at a fast rate.

Indeed, the massive consumption of food, by Mooreon, is also having a direct and bad impact on American food stocks! This guy is a walking garbage disposal.

Lastly, he has been blamed no less than THREE TIMES for blocking sewage treatment plants with his huge logs that refuse to break down. (Unblocking the pipes from one of Lardass Mooreon's logs would REALLY be a SH*T job!)

I agree. Remember, propaganda works on the weak-minded. This reporter, while probably a liberal, had enough sense not to gush about the film.

Hollywood loved it because, at bottom, they are weak-minded. They are probably the most creative group of people on the planet, but politically, they haven't a clue.

Weak-minded people are easy to persuade. Hitler could win an election in Hollywood with the right advance man.

Happens more often than you know. There are hard-core non-conformists that manage, for whatever reason, to slip beneath the radar of the recruiting officers, and even get through boot camp and technical school. Sometimes their non-conformity just does not happen to run up against the regulations of the armed service branch, but other times, the guy (or gal) might just be ticked off at something so commonplace the authorities do not give the situation a second thought, until they have a situation on their hands, and some EM is out there thumbing his nose at the CO. We are not talking about rational people here.

The "commanders" are supposed to be operating under orders as well. They don't have "goals" independent of those of the sovereign people.

It really wouldn't be hard for Moore to shop around in the Army for some neat photos. He claims he did this with some of the realistic war photos. Some of those are probably staged or posed for the camera. The aboo grab photos were clearly posed so ...

Are the photos he has the exact ones that were turned in as evidence? How he got them would be a good thing for Teddy and Joey to look into, don't you think? I mean if they are really interested in the truth, you would think they would want to haul this lard a$$ before congress and make him testify.

Maybe tinfoil, maybe true.

I wonder if one of the real reporters will look into this?
