IRS: Homosexual Couples Cannot File As 'Married'

(CNSNews.com) - In a letter to a conservative, pro-family group, the Internal Revenue Service established this week that homosexual couples filing joint tax returns would be in violation of the law under the federal Defense of Marriage Act.

The Defense of Marriage Act, signed by President Clinton in 1996, says the states will not be forced to recognize homosexual marriages and it legally defines marriage as the union of one man and one woman.

"Because of this statute, only married individuals under this definition could elect to file a joint tax return," said the June 14 letter addressed to Public Advocate of the United States.

Even when states legally recognize homosexual unions, "that recognition has no effect for purposes of federal law," said the letter signed by IRS Communications and Liaison Chief Frank Keith.

The letter was in response to an April 13, 2004 inquiry from Public Advocate President Eugene Delgaudio, who asked the tax agency to define its position on homosexuals filing returns as married couples.

Jesse Binnall of Public Advocate called the IRS response "a victory for the American family."

"Now we have something from a federal government agency saying that ... the court in Massachusetts may recognize this sham marriage, bureaucrats in San Francisco may recognize your marriage, but the government of the United States of America does not recognize these sham marriages."

Binnall said his organization is fighting "the radical homosexual left's" efforts to legislate pro-homosexual policy from the bench. "They've had a lot of success with courts but they have had no success with voters," he said.

Public Advocate of the United States describes itself as a "leader in the fight for family values and against the radicals in the homosexual lobby who wish to tear down the American family."

Requests for comment from the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, Parents Family and Friends of Lesbians and Gays and Lambda Legal were not returned yesterday or today.

Not only that, but without specific surgery, they can't consummate their wedding. Sodomy is NOT consummation. They are attempting to redefine 'consummation', as well as 'marriage', as well as 'making love'. I even resent them redefining the word, 'gay'. When you think about how organized this movement is, it's downright scary. I have never seen such a coordingated effort to destroy the moral foundation of society. We must never give in and always continue to fight the good fight.

Interestingly, here in VT, where, unfortunately, we've had civil unions for a couple years (thanks to the deviousness of Howard Dean), people in a civil union can file their state taxes as "married" (sort of) but they have to file their federal taxes as single.

So, what they have to do is file a real fed tax return, then figure a bogus return as if married so they can get their "state sanctioned humpity-hump" benefits.

The only problem is that they don't know who's a he and who's a she.

This really is one of the key issues. If gay couples can have a tax cut, then the rest of us will have to pay more.

I once had gay clients who wanted to file jointly. In their situation it would have cost them thousands of dollars more in taxes to file jointly. Even so, they insisted on paying me to research the law (which I told them was a waste) and see if there was any possible for them to file jointly.

Yup, "married" means a MAN and a WOMAN joined in matrimony. That's the way it always was, and always will be. Homosexual activists may hold some sway in the realm of public opinion or mandmade laws for a while, but any victories they claim are actual defeats for reason, morality, and truth. And their delusions won't last.
