REPORT AND PHOTOS: RUMMY'S ROUND III (warning large files)

The delay in posting this is due to the various activities associated with the death of President Reagan.

For the third time in a month, DC Chapter FReepers, other FReepers, and their allies turned out on June 5, 2004 to peacefully counter-protest leftists marching to the home of Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld.  (You can read the after-action reports for the first FReep and for the second FReep by clicking at the appropriate place.) The honor roll of FReepers at the Rummy house gathering of eagles: tgslTakoma, RabidRalph, Staytrue, BufordP, Trueblackman, Exit148, Doctor Raoul, Marylander, Kristinn, hobblemaster, Mudboy Slim, GottaLuvAkitas1, helmet113, Sauropod, youradhere, and BillF.  We were also pleased that Protest Warrior Israeliboy7 and two other Protest Warriors joined us.  Some of our Iraqi friends attended and brought several of the Iraqis whose hands were chopped off by Saddam Hussein's regime. Including two lurkers (one who now is registered as Landry Fan), we had a total of 27 protesting the leftists. This time the leftist march was sponsored by International ANSWER (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism),  a thinly-veiled front group for the Stalinist World Workers Party.  Their original plan was to march from the White House to the Pentagon.  However, for the second time in a year, ANSWER withdrew a plan to march to the Pentagon without explaining the change,  thus leaving some of their supporters confused and demoralized.

Instead of marching to the Pentagon, ANSWER decided to steal the thunder from Code Pink and DAWN (DC Anti-War Network) by following the tactic of those groups, who've been marching to Rumsfeld's home. This was in keeping with ANSWER's ruthless reputation among anti-war groups, a reputation earned by big-footing other anti-war groups, effectively going to the front of their parades, taking over others' groups and events, black-balling some speakers at rallies, and otherwise hogging the spotlight. Stalin would be proud of ANSWER.

 

Incredibly, Michael Berg marched with ANSWER, an organization that openly supports those who tortured and murdered his son, Nick Berg.  (ANSWER says "The anti-war movement here and around the world must give its unconditional support to the Iraqi anti-colonial resistance" (last sentence in text above credits, it is third horizontal column, click here to see the PDF file from their website).)  The younger Berg was killed by that same Iraqi anti-colonial resistance.  Grief does strange things to people, but Mr. Berg's behavior is truly unusual.

The leftists first rallied at Lafayette Park next to the White House.  Kristinn and other FReepers protested the leftists at that location before going to Rumsfeld's. Kristinn is going to report on that event, either in this thread or in a separate thread.

This was one of 4 women organized as the Missile Chicks.  Dancing as they sang "Shop in the Name of War," to the tune of "Stop in the Name of Love,"  the phallus-wearing women preceded the main march of leftists. Unclear if her missile's lack of enthusiasm in the right photo is from her seeing Sauropod's funny sign: NEO-CONS MAKE BETTER LOVERS.

When the Missile Chicks did their act, one of the Iraqis started throwing coins at the ground beneath them.  A police officer told the Iraqi to stop several times.  Finally, the officer told the Iraqi "you do that one more time and you're outta here."  Overhearing that last warning, GottaLuvAkitas1 explained to the Iraqi that he better stop or else he'd be going to jail.  The language barrier had apparently prevented him from understanding until GLA spelled it out for him.

K Kristinn had arranged for interviews for some of the Iraqi victims of Saddam.  Here CNN interviews one whose hand was chopped off by Saddam's henchmen.

Doctor Raoul had a megaphone, and he knows how to use it. When the Missile Chicks arrived, the Doctor of FReep told them: THE LAST TIME I SAW YOU LADIES WITH THIS MANY COPS THEY WERE MARCHING ACROSS THE 14TH STREET BRIDGE.  This was a reference to an incident years ago when DC Police, not wanting to arrest prostitutes, simply marched them across the bridge into Virginia, which was less than pleased to receive them. Later, Doctor Raoul told the crowd, with reference to the missile chicks, THIS IS WHAT YOU GET FOR $5.

Trueblackman, who also had a megaphone and who knows how to use it, started the chant: RPG ENVY, RPG ENVY to the phallus wearing Missile Chicks.  [Click here for the sound bite, 9 seconds, 190 Kb.]

BufordP told one of the Missile Chicks, "Hey, your RPG is a little bent, is that a Clinton RPG?"

FReepers also chanted: GIVE BACK DADDY'S CREDIT CARD!

WHY CALL IT ANSWER?  IT'S WORKERS WORLD PARTY! READ YOUR OWN WEBSITE, ANSWER SUPPORTS WAR WORKERS WORLD SUPPORTS WAR ANSWER SUPPORTS NICK BERG'S KILLERS WE GAVE PEACE A CHANCE, WE GOT 911! COME MEET SADDAM'S VICTIMS (challenging leftists to meet those tortured by Saddam before their right hands were chopped off) YOU NEVER MARCHED AGAINST SADDAM! SEE HIS VICTIMS OF TORTURE! GOD BLESS FREE IRAQ YOU NEVER MARCHED AGAINST SADDAM! YOU HELPED TORTURE HIS VICTIMS!

After the leftists fled the scene, we duly thanked the police, who had kept the "peace protestors" from attacking us. All in all, it was another very successful FReep.  Numerous FReepers were interviewed, but much of it was probably not used in view of the news of President Reagan's death, which apparently was announced publicly right after the FReep ended. A number of us relocated to an undisclosed location for food and drink (see photos below), but the mood was dampened by the news of the passing of President Reagan.  Many of us just heard the news upon arrival at the location. Angelwood joined us at the undisclosed location.

I made it to the meet at 15th and Constitution, but got stopped across the street and could only watch the group. When they finally opened the crosswalks, I walked to see the Reagan Building Entrance, draped in black, with the group heading for the Metro.

As always, Freepers were outstanding.
