$40 Reagan Bill, Reagan Forty dollar bill

Posted on 06/15/2004 3:44:35 PM PDT by fishtank

A caller to Savage suggested a new $40 bill with Reagan's portrait.

No one here has talked about this. I kind of like the idea: $40 for the 40th President.

That way we don't have to retire any current bills.

If we're going to go for a new denomination, I think a $25 bill might be more practical.

How about a $3 note to honor our most recent past president? It would certainly be fitting.

I can't think of any way a $40 bill makes sense.

All bills need to count to $100 or else tilling becomes a pain in the a$$.

Now, now.

Let's all reflect the new tone.

Besides, everyone knows that Barney Frank is the only one worthy of the $3 bill.

That was the reason for my support of a $25 bill in another thread. We used to have twenty cent coins, that lived side by side with the quarter.

I've never been a teller, but 5*$40.00 = $200.00.

Failing that, who do we get rid of to get Reagan on a piece of currency?

I DON'T want him on the dime, or the dollar coin. For MY money, it's gotta be the $20, the $50 - or the $40.

No way.

I don't want to give the government another excuse to inflate our currency.

Don't get me started.

I think we should be on a silver/gold standard.

I wish we had $500 bills. I hate going on a long trip and have a large stack of $100.

The twenty. 2 x 20 is 40 so it makes sense. And as it is the only bill in ATMs it would see lots of circulation.

Besides they will want to redesign the 20 in a couple of years any way. Let them start early and put Reagan on it.

Debit/Credit Card? Keep in mind, I have 0 credit card debt. I was on a 4000 mile driving trip last October and when I left I had about 4 dollars on me.

How about putting the Gipper on a $5 coin?
Then we can get rid of pennies and the dollar bill.
