Conservatives Irked Over Bush-Clinton Lovefest
Newsmax ^ | 6/15/04

Posted on 06/15/2004 9:25:09 AM PDT by areafiftyone

President Bush certainly didn't score any points with his conservative base on Monday when he praised Bill Clinton to the hilt during the unveiling of the impeached president's White House portrait.

"President Bush was more laudatory and more passionate about Bill Clinton than he was about President Reagan [during Friday's memorial service]," contended nationally syndicated radio host Michael Savage Monday night.

When Bush spoke about Reagan, said Savage, "we got empty homilies. We got less than empty homilies - we got a Mr. Rogers job."

But at the Clinton portrait ceremony, Savage said, "Today we actually got a passionate President Bush. He was almost animated to be around Bill Clinton. The guy looked happy."

Though the Bush-Clinton lovefest left many of the president's fans fuming, Mr. Clinton's obvious enjoyment of Bush's kind words also raised eyebrows inside Sen. John Kerry presidential campaign, which only 24-hours earlier had been assured that Clinton would come out swinging this week against the White House.

"Maybe [Bush and Clinton] have a mutual interest in a Democrat not winning this November," said MSNBC host Chris Matthews, noting that a Kerry loss would pave the way for Mrs. Clinton's 2008 presidential campaign.

I never called anyone names, and I never made racist comments. The fact that you and the crazy lady interpret things the way you want is beside the point.

You and the other person have however, on several threads called me every name in the book, up to and including a vulgar name for male genitals. You follow me from thread to thread, that's what children do. None of which bothers me in the least, I have seen this kind of rabid behavior in liberals for years.

It's fun!

I would prefer Freepers didn't call each other names, but it's bound to happen. I'm not too uptight about it, but when it starts taking on a racist tone, that really ups the ante for me.

Some people either don't realize or don't care that saying, "Hey Injun, you hitting the firewater again?" to you is not unlike saying "Hey n****r, you doing crack?" to one of our black friends. Is the latter something that would be tolerated here? Not in a million years.

I'm not hitting abuse though. Let people who think that's acceptable discourse reveal themselves and allow everyone to see what they really believe. At least it's out in the open then.

Here are just a token few of yours, cut and pasted for your review and pleasure. LOL

Just because I know a bigot when I see one doesn't make me a liberal.
Well, someone has to convince people that all conservatives aren't fat, white racists.
Cool. There's a silver lining in every disgusting, unrepentant bigot.
No, actually - I'm quite nice, Archie. I just don't coddle bigots.
I'm quite taken, and not looking for anything, thanks - but if I'm ever in need of an obnoxious old bigot with the maturity level of a fifth-grader, I'll look you up.
Do you have plans to grow up in the future, or are you going to act like an irreverent, racist punk for the duration?
frankly, you need to have your ass kicked.
DO YOU GET MY POINT, BEAVIS?
Grow the ____ up.
You are even more pathetic than I thought.
Let me try that: God, you are a pig.

Such a nice polite "lady". LOL

>>compromise<<

Reminds me of President Reagan: "I'd rather get 80% of what I want than go running off the edge of the cliff with all flags flying."

I don't know, have you? You post like it.

I had some last night, I liked it.

I have to say , I have spoken to several people who were EXTREMELY angry about this .

As one guy friend of mine said :

"He (Bush) should be calling national press conferences telling people about all the WMD finds in Iraq and everywhere, but, instead , he wastes his valuable time praising Clinton. I'll vote for the SOB, but he's not turning out to be the person I thought he was."

I reminded my friend that the people elected Clinton , and they elected him twice. What's president Bush supposed to do about that? He just shrugged his shoulders and said "they're all the same , a bunch of elitists".

I don't feel this way, but I have talked to people who do- Just FYI

Right, keep looking. But it won't help because you can't find that which doesn't exist.

Nice try though. Remember when making up stories on these threads, all of them can be checked.

I've made nothing up. You, however, have engaged in unjustified racial stereotyping.

Ya know, the usual.
