There's a reason they are "former" diplomats.

The Bush-Cheney campaign said Sunday it would have no response until the group formally issues its statement at the news conference. Among the group are 20...

WOW !! This has me worried. I mean, everybody has been waiting with bated breath to find out who these former, retired, officials are endorsing for President.

"The group, which calls itself Diplomats and Military Commanders for Change, does not explicitly endorse Democrat John Kerry..."

How many dips are mixed with the military commanders? And, what kind of military commander thinks that the most successful wartime president in US history is doing a bad job?

Is it due to the incredibly low level of casualties? Are they outraged that we haven't filled enough body bags? "This is no way to fight a war! Body bags are getting dusty!"

Is it the connection between Iraq and al qaida? Even the Clinton administration knew. Is it the WMDs? More evidence keeps coming out all the time that there were.

Bush should resign so we can put Warren Christopher back in charge. I guess that's it, huh? So our military can start shooting at hands rather than kill people, and we avoid looking 'too warlike'.

Some of those signing the document — such as Hoar and former Air Force Chief of Staff Merrill A. McPeak — have identified themselves as supporters of Sen. John F. Kerry,

Obvious proof of the "peter principal" at work in the Air Force.

Going back some twenty-five years, I'd think you'd find more than 26 men or women ex-government officials who'd be against just about any president's policies. That places this smack dab in the middle of 'so-what' territory.

I wonder how many military officals, if free to talk, would say less than complimentary things about Clinton.

Now, it's not quite so easy to find 19 of 25 past military members who worked side by side with you, or were your commanding officers. If the Dems think this measures up to such a groups vote of no-conficence for John Kerry, they should rethink their strategy. It's got a great big leak in it.

Don't know, but I've never met anyone with anything nice to say about McPeak. To a person, everyone I know believes he was the worst USAF Chief of Staff ever. His big claim to fame since leaving was encouraging dumping the USAF logo of 50 years for a new logo that looks like it belongs on toilet paper.

He also redesigned the uniform (changed ASAP after he left), insisted on renaming Tactical Fighter Squadrons as just Fighter Squadrons, and I believe he was the father of the leather jacket to improve retention.

In short, a clueless f#$%up while in the service...and not getting smarter with time.

When I was an ALO at Ft Hood, Billyboy appeared on a TV in a hall filled with soldiers. A Colonel walked up and changed the channel, commenting "Let's find something worthwhile to watch!"

The room broke out in applause.

I wonder how many times that was played out over eight years? Quite a few I would imagine. Thanks for the early morning laugh.

Those of us that have had some experience in the region over the years, and don't necessarily have ulterior motivations, particularly people that know very much about Iraq—and I don't necessarily put myself in that category; specifically, I know a fair amount about the political-military situation in the region, but know enough about Iraq to know that any military operation and any subsequent reconstruction efforts, to include the interjection of democracy, were going to be extremely difficult, and perhaps impossible.
