Thank you for posting the photo of the officers with BufordP and his great sign. I knew it would turn out fantastic.

BufordP had been standing next to the barrier with his sign on the outside when a police officer motioned to him. BufordP walked over to the officer. I went in that direction also because I was worried they had a complaint. No complaints -- just a very large number of officers who wanted to take a break while waiting for the funeral procession to begin by having their picture taken with such a great sign.

Traffic stopped, both pedestrian and cars, while the officers called others to come stand beside them. BillF, Samurai_Jack and others took photos with the officers' own cameras. The officer just to the left of President Reagan's picture, a little in front of the others, was wearing a badge from President Reagan's 1985 (if I remember correctly) Inauguration. He said word had come down from the top that they could wear these badges from 1981 and 1985.

Samurai_Jack, thank you for helping me get to the Metro with my cart and chair and for practically seeing me home. I greatly appreciated your assistance and enjoyed the extra time in your company. HUGS!

Thank you for sharing your experience with the rest of us. And thank you for giving the press a dose of reality and truth that they certainly didn't bargain on from you and the others who came to pay their respects to such a great man and his family.

HRWR,

Thanks for the FANTASTIC report. You did a great thing for your children. They will remember that experience always.

What I appreciate most, is how you educated them on the way there. They weren't easily manipulated goofy kids just doing what Mom said, they were KNOWLEDGEABLE children and demonstrated that to anyone who observed!

It's parents LIKE YOU that secure the future of our great nation!

This retired Marine Salutes you for your valiant effort!

Semper Fidelis

Thanks for the ping, W. What a heartwarming story this is. I wish I could have been there to say goodbye to Mr. President. I was lucky enough to have met him personally when he was seeking the California Governor seat. He was a warm and impressive man, and turned out to be a great leader. I haven't seen the likes of him since.

I'm so proud of you for making that long trek with your children, to honor President Reagan. THANKS for the thread!! THANKS for standing up to the media...who probably STILL don't get it.

You're what America is all about.

Thanks so much for giving us your story. What a great experience for your family. I was so proud of the many thousands like you who stood in line those long hours to pay respect. Wish I could have joined you all.

And I just have to repeat the words of Chieftain posted earlier:

"It's parents LIKE YOU that secure the future of our great nation!"

What no pictures?

Wonderful story and what memories for your children. Thank you for sharing.

You and RobFromGa were within fifty feet of each other.

You and RobFromGa were within fifty feet of each other.

LOL- We were within ten feet of each other! I was the big guy from Atlanta in the sport coat three people back behind her in the red "Thank God for Ronald Reagan" t-shirt.

It's a small world!

Great story. I'm glad you all could come up for the viewing. My cousin is a policeman in DC and he says by far, the nicest people he ever dealt with are the visitors, while reporters that visit the Capitol are all POS's.

When a reporter asked my oldest daughter, almost 11, if all this was worth it to see a box with a flag (mommy almost clocked him) she replied, "We came here to pray for our President. He knows we’re here. We also came to show Mrs. Reagan and her children how much we loved him during a sad time for them."

Just beautiful. She sure showed him.

Thanks for the report. I'm so glad you had the chance to go.
