Senator/Reverend Danforth was 1,000 times better than that windbag Rev. Wenning. Was it just me, or is he not the most pompous, theatrical, longwinded thing you've ever seen? I thought he'd never shut up. His accent got thicker as he kept on talking. I cut the recorder off a few minutes into his last oration, went outside for a few minutes, came back in, and he was still going on and on and on about himself, mostly...all the while the honor guard is standing there holding the flag.

I thought his comments were touching.

I thought so too. But it was obvious that Nancy like him very much. I did like the part where he said that he went back to visit his father in South Africa and his father had a picture of President Reagan hanging up and his father pointed to the picture and said that Reagan was his President too. It showed how much appeal Reagan has world-wide.

I liked Rev. Wenning, esp. the part where he talked about how "only in America" could it be that someone (an immigrant) like him would turn out to be the pastor for Ronald Reagan. Maybe yes, he was a bit "theatrical" but I really think Ronald Reagan would have loved what he said.

Was he the one who "imitated" Lady Thatcher? That REALLY irritated me!

It wasn't just you. He was bad BUT he did make a couple really good points. My favorite: when he thanked Nancy for being such a good example of a loving, faithful husband and wife during their time in the White House.
