The service in California was stunning. Especially when they showed the setting sun. Tried to blame my sniffles an a really bad head cold I just came down with. The cold didn't quite explain the tears running down my face when Michael spoke. Started really losing it when they folded the flag and presented it to Nancy. The scene at the casket made my heart for her. I don't think she will last long without her Ronnie.

My mother just turned 82 and like Nancy is very frail. Watching Nancy was like watching her. She gets that same lost look Nancy had at times especially when you ask her somrthing and she can't remember.

I was fine until I saw the Captain of the USS Ronald Reagan hand Nancy that flag, knowing that as he did so he said those traditional words; "Mrs Reagan, please accept this, your country's flag, with the heartfelt thanks of a grateful nation." Similar words were said to my mother by the captain of the honor guard attending my fathers funeral at Riverside National Cemetary in 2000, but in Reagan's case the phrase has so much more meaning!

The final scene of Nancy unwilling to leave the casket brought torrents of tears...

That really did me in also. I said to my husband: "This is just too intimate for the television-watching public to witness live." I thought for Nancy's sake the cameras should've been shut off during that part of the ceremony.

I've been crying off and on all week, with all the moving tributes, beautiful ceremonies and just remembering the greatness that was Ronald Reagan.

I was driving on the interstate here in Montana on beautiful scenic mountain roadway in the mountains, listening to the eulogies on the radio. I started to get misty when Thatcher came on. I had to pull over, and as I did, there were several other cars in both directions pulling over.

Perfect, now if I ever have grand kids, I can look them straight in the eye and tell them there were cars pulled to the side of the road from California all the way to Montana!

I have heard young Ron say some pretty unkind things about W. He may even be the source for some of the Dem's "frat boy" hits. I don't think it really matters to the President. He seems to take it all in stride.

The behavior of the who Reagan family this week has reminded me of the movie "The Great Santini".
Was Fox anchor Chris Wallace attending the Simi Valley service as a guest or as a correspondent? I know his father was in there as a guest and when Chris gave some commentary he sounded as if he was, umm, getting misty.

Just a little bit at the end of that national burial this morning. But at the very end of our local memorial tonight that I helped put on, the last speaker said "good bye and God bless, President Reagan" and all of a sudden I was crying... I just felt all the week's events were finished, and now there was nothing to do but come to grips with the fact he was gone forever. Oops, better quit talking about it before another spiget opens ups...

I missed this part and like a commentator said today: Is she breaks down there would be 3 feet of tears in the catherdral. But left the house for a memorial and missed Nancy crying. I couldn't have held up if I had seen even one tear in her eyes.

Oh Lordy...I have cried for all of this week. The image of the riderless horse, the beautiful music..Battle Hymn of the Republic really did me in, the fine young military men and women. The changing of the guard in the Rotunda, Nancy Reagan just not being able to say good-bye as the sun was setting in Simi Valley. Lordy what a week. What a fine moment in the history of America. The world is seeing Americans at their finest.

I started tearing up when Taps was played (that song always gets me). Tears flowed for Nancy's broken heart, God love her.

Did you happen to notice the Marine that escorted her to the casket? He was doing everything in his power not to cry and was loosing the battle.

There were several thoughts-all brought tears: DAMN, I'm proud of our Country. DAMN! I'm PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN. DAMN! I'm PROUD that we had such a man as President.The News finally had to admit HE DONE GOOD! DAMN! Those CHP motorcycles sure look SHARP! DAMN! I'm SO proud of the Californians who stopped on the freeway.(usually a get a citation for that, and the CHP ignored it today. The CHP also ignored the camera guys in the back of a Chevy Avalanche.) I'm proud of the Californians that clogged the overpasses to see THE MAN on his last ride. I'm proud of what the Liberals would call" Corny" in that people with their families, stood at the side of the road waving their little American flags. TAKE THAT, Ted Kennedy!

Oh well said. This was Americans at their finest. I truely believe this whole state funeral was not just for his family, but for US the American people. He knew we needed this. He knew we as a people needed to be brought together as Americans. I just loved the cars stopped on the freeway and the CHP just not even caring. I am so proud to be an American, especially this day.
