What a wonderful human being he was. He touched all of our lives, and none of us will ever forget him. He made a difference in people's lives around the world. May God comfort all of those who loved him during this difficult time.

Yes, that scene got to me as well. Truly a sight to behold - can you imagine what the people around the world were thinking at that sight? I have a deep understanding for Reagan's heartland upbringing. My hometown in Illinois is not far and is very much like the Dixon where Ronald Reagan grew up - about 10,000 people, small-town, but county seat where people, yes, would hang around and have picnics by the river. My mother also bailed a couple of people out of the community pool (built in the 1930's). Not only that, my grandfather (my mother's father) went to Eureka College, was a Goldwater Republican, and was a TKE fraternity brother of Reagan's. This week was like re-burying my own grandfather.
California did not disgrace the country today. I've been holding my breath! Ventura county did us proud!

Margaret Thatcher is another class act. They broke her mold too. I heard most of her speech tonight on the radio. She was great.
Reagan married actress Jane Wyman in 1952. They had two children, Maureen and Michael. The acrimony arrising over the debate about Communists in Hollywood was reportedly a factor in their divorce.
Was he the one who "imitated" Lady Thatcher? That REALLY irritated me!
I wondered about Ron's speech, too. Otherwise I was sniffling throughout all three cf the children's eulogies. Michael's was all a son's eulogy should be.
I cried this morning when I heard them sing "Going Home." And, of course, with everybody else, when Nancy broke down saying goodbye to the coffin for the last time.
Very ticked at Ron Jr. for introducing politics into an otherwise flawless and dignified state occasion.
It's being re-broadcast now, I think on Fox. It's in the next room but as I hear the words and the music I can remember every detail from tonight.
I had to work today so I missed the ceremony at the Cathedral. During the commute home, a local broadcaster on the radio described his quick trip to Washington, and the HATEFUL small group of 30-40 they encountered there who said Reagan and Bush were satan, and instead of God Bless America, sang 'God Hates America.' He noted that the crowd he was part of, across the street, completely drowned them out with pro-American chants. Needless to say I was fairly 'grouchy' by the time I tuned in tonight, wondering if people in America even 'get it' any more.
The broadcast from Simi Valley restored my faith in all of us (or all but 30-40 of us). I lost it when the children started with the eulogies. I knew they would be doing so, but I did not know they would be so composed or so eloquent. Like others, when Nancy draped herself over the casket I completely lost it. I couldn't read the lips, but now others on this thread have reported what she was saying, so I lost it again.
My final thought as Nancy was led away was that for a service of 700 or fewer, she probably had to face entertaining those people at a reception of some sort inside the Library. I hope not. She is too tired, she has jet lag, and it has been too long a week for her and for all of us.
Actually, I don't know about any enmity between Ron Reagan and W; I thought he was referring to our smirking former-president (BJC)
Yes, I did. She loves us. I consider her one of us. And I dread the day when we'll have to say goodbye to her too.

My thoughts were, instead of fields and cars pulled to the side of the road, of earlier days when citizens would line the railroad tracks as Presidents were taken back by rail for their final burials.

Let's put it this way: He's no friend of W's.
It wasn't just you. He was bad BUT he did make a couple really good points. My favorite: when he thanked Nancy for being such a good example of a loving, faithful husband and wife during their time in the White House.

That she and her children are now close is so wonderful.
She is such a woman of character.
She may decide upon a life of solitude the rest of her days, but I do hope we hear from her and see her more, I really do.
Ron Jr. is married with children.
Ron Jr. has a certain characteristic "look" about him. Ron Jr. was also a professional ballet dancer. Ron Jr. is also flaming liberal.
There's more than enough about Ron Jr. to raise suspicion as to the true nature of his lifestyle.
