I definitely think this is about the saddest thing I have ever seen next to my own grandfather's funeral.

The band that played tonight at the final service as the Air Force Band of the West! Not sure where they are stationed now with all the base closings in CA.

Has anyone thought about the similarities in relationships between Ronnie and Nancy and George and Laura?

RE: Patti and the kids--when Nancy broke down at the coffin it seemed I could hear all their footsteps as they immediately went over to her. I'm so glad they didn't leave her there alone.

Ron will probably run for Congress someday in a safe Democratic area. He will never go as far as his father for one reason: his father didn't have a mean bone in his body. Ron does. Voters pick that up real fast. It's what undid Howard Dean. It's what will undo Kerry. Bush has a mean streak, but he keeps it really under wraps.Interesting observation. The problem is that Kerry, as you point out, does have a mean streak, but "others" keep it under wraps. You'll recall that recently in Washington he "flipped the bird" to a veteran who challenged him. It was virtually unreported by the media.

Michael's speech was heartfelt, a son extremely proud of his papa....a loving and respectful son who admires and adores his father. It was a wonderful moment of sharing deeply held feelings of his love and beliefs. The Father in Heaven above is also extremely proud of Ronald Reagan's son for boldly proclaiming the faith to which the father on earth passed on.

The earlobe fetish story nauseated me, and the dead goldfish analogy was almost as bad. I felt so uncomfortable listening to these two siblings, I got up and started pacing the floor in circles.
Michael was the class act tonight, as he was throughout the week.

Ping to a beautiful thread.
Fine sendoff for a wonderful President.

One day Ron might regret what he said. Patti's been there. Just let it go. It doesn't matter what hate filled people say about it.. all that matter is you don't become one.
