Now what happens?

Well now Dutch goes into the west like Elrond, Galadriel, and Roy Rogers. :-)

I thought several of the people who came to the casket right before the military, were probably his Secret service detail. Saw big guys giving crisp salutes with looks of grief on their face.

The band is now paying their respects>

If you have ever been in such a band, you know what effort they have given.

What four hours?

RE: The man escorting Nancy--he HAS been so patient and kind and protecting to her. I KNOW he had a tear running down his cheek earlier, I think after the service at the Cathedral. He almost had to hold her up as she walked away from the casket with the flag. It was heartbreaking.

Thank you. It is my way to trying to capture the moment exactly and immediatly as it happens. It lends a different perspective.

These are all the military servicemen that have been with him since his death.

It's the band, isn't it?

Speaking of LBJ's funeral -- I watched part of a replay of it this afternoon -- it didn't come close to this and it was obvious that Lady Bird did not have the same feelings for LBJ that Nancy had for Pres Reagan.

The blonde everyone is wondering about...I think, is Larry King's wife.

Just ingore it.

That's what I did.

Ron gave a nice speech. This short, couple sentence statement was not too awful.

I am just looking beyond it.

Isn't it amazing that all these people want to pay their respects.

I should be going to bed, but I can't turn this off - just amazing!

The simile to Lord of the Rings has not escaped me.

I heard someone on FNc mention earlier (may have been Brit) that Chris Wallace used to cover RR at the White House. That explains the choke-up.

Yes, Chris Wallace was White House correspondent for ABC News during the '80s.

On Wednesday we had friends over, hs'ers who eschew television but wanted to watch the funeral procession. The kids played while we moms watched. I told her that some people might be afraid, thinking that this passing signifies that the best of the best are leaving, and "they don't make 'em like him anymore." She said, no, the next great one will be in this generation of kids who've been hs'ed. Mo1 we talked about this a few days ago, if I recall..sorry if I'm mistaken.

"All our military folks have been extraordinary."

I just finished telling hubby that in our country this week, there are now thousands of boys who want to join the armed forces after seeing how (and I hate to use this word, but here I go) COOL our military is!

Another blessing from RR!

very un-Reaganesque.

I wonder if he will ever think about that and wonder if his dad was disappointed? I couldn't take that.

I'll bet Ronald Reagan loved his son Ron despite his leftist leanings. My father loved my brother, his eldest son, even though they were at total odds politically.

I thought Ron was slamming GWB too.

I also thought Michael was making a huge effort to get Patti and Ron to accept Jesus truly so they could all be in heaven together.
