Man Falls To Death From Helicopter Over Grand Canyon
POSTED: 9:43 am EDT June 11, 2004
PHOENIX -- A helicopter tour company said a man took off his seat belt, opened a door and intentionally fell to his death during a sightseeing flight over the Grand Canyon National Park Thursday.
Authorities say the investigation of the man's death continues. They've offered few details on what led up to his exit from the helicopter about 90 miles northwest of Flagstaff, Ariz.
The man fell about 4,000 feet.
Officials don't know if the man had any connection to the others on board the helicopter. The pilot and four other passengers were shaken by what happened but weren't hurt.
The search in the rugged terrain will resume Friday.

Authorities say the cause of death won't be determined until the body is recovered from White's Butte.Deceleration trauma?

Yep, it's not the fall that kills you it's that sudden stop.

Authorities say the cause of death won't be determined until the body is recovered from White's Butte. Caused me to do a double take. I didn't recall the story mentioning a person named White, or what he was doing there in the first place.

That reminds me of an old joke about superman flying over Wonderwoman (sunbathing nude).

Deceleration trauma? Heart attack on the way down?
Likely they want to see if there is any evidence that he was drugged or possibly pushed.
First thing that would leap (no pun intended) into my mind, but then I read far too many mysteries.

I don't want to ruin the levity of this thread, but someone needs to point out what a jack-wipe this guy is. Not only did he traumatize the pilot and the other passengers, but someone is going to have to scrape up his remains.
If you're going to off yourself, wash a bottle of sleeping pills down with a quart of vodka, climb into a contractor's bag, and lie yourself out with the trash.
