"We in the media failed the nation by not reporting these things about Reagan at the time.

"I have learned a lot about this side of Ronald Reagan...things I never new before. So I, too, have failed America."

[paraphrased]

More..

Bernard Shaw: "Can I say something that touches on a very sensitive issue? The news media, and how we failed to thoroughly cover and communicate the very essences we're talking about possessed by Ronald Reagan. What I've been reading and what I've been hearing, I did not get during his two terms in office. Or did I miss something?" Wolf Blitzer: "I think you're on to something, Bernie, uh.. "

Shaw: "I think we failed our viewers, listeners and readers to an appreciable extent. I can't quantify it, but I'll put it there. Because I certainly missed a lot."

Bernard Goldberg: "Can I say something that touches on a very sensitive issue? It goes on!! I'm speechless. Someone get the smelling salts.

It's not just the Old Media that fails to recognize the quality of leadership of Bush, lots of Freepers fail to appreciate his strength, determination and commitment to conservative principles.

Some have been sadly misled by jealous little men like Pat Buchanan.

Wolf Blitzer: "I think you're on to something, Bernie, uh.. "?/I>

Are you sure Blitzed didn't say, "I think you're on something, Bernie."?

Just turned from Chris Matthews and Georgie Ann Geyers assuring each other that Ronald Reagan would never have invaded Iraq, how George W. Bush is a neocon so completely different from his father and the Gipper.

Mr. Shaw:

In the end, what you thought or said never made any difference.

The American People are far more insightful, far more intelligent than you ever gave them credit for.

Even now, your words make absolutely no difference.

That was eloquently illustrated by the scenes from California and Washington, D.C. this week.

The People may have heard your words, but they never heeded them.

Thank you for the ping.. here's the more that I transcribed. I was laughing as I typed. You go, Judy! Newshound senses are keen, baby.

continuing...

Wolf Blitzer: "I think you're absolutely right, Bernie. We've learned a lot more about this presidency in the years that have followed Ronald Reagan's two terms in office, and I suspect, as more of his diaries, more of his papers, more of his speeches, more information is released by the presidential library in Simi Valley, we'll learn even a great deal more."

Judy Woodruff: "Yeah, I just wanted to add, Wolf, uh, what Bernie said, I mean I think, triggers a reaction in all of us. I do think there's new material coming out now about Ronald Reagan. You know, with the distance of years, we have the ability to go back and talk to people, to read, to get information that we sometimes don't get in the hurlyburly. And clearly, some of it too is when someone passes, when there is a death. I think there's a respectful distance, I mean, I heard a few people say in the last days, 'well, the media's going overboard with this. Why spend seven days remembering Ronald Reagan?' In fact, it's entirely appropriate to go and to appreciate what this man meant to this country, what he meant to the world. And the newsmedia is a very big part of that. What's going on now is entirely appropriate."
