The latest Rasmussen Reports Presidential Tracking Poll shows President George W. Bush with 47% of the vote and Senator John F. Kerry with 44%.
When leaners are included, Bush has 49% and Kerry 48%.
The gain for Bush from yesterday's poll results may be statistical noise or a reaction to the Reagan funeral. Unless the "lead" is maintained for more than three days, it is unlikely to reflect a real shift from a campaign that has been deadlocked for months.
As the nation says farewell to our 40th President today, we note that 67% of Americans have a favorable opinion of Ronald Reagan. A plurality says he will be remembered as one of our greatest President.
The Rasmussen Reports Presidential Tracking Poll is updated daily by noon Eastern.
Job approval at 52%
I'm betting this continues.
I think this poll, coupled with the FOX Poll (which has it dead even at 42% with Nader) totally blows away the veracity of the LA Slimes poll.
Kerry led by 2% Wednesday and it was sudden event, suggesting a very good Kerry sample Tuesday night. It just scrolled off the 3 day sample today, meaning that Bush has been strong since Tuesday and only that good Kerry Tuesday sample was holding Kerry even.
This suggests that Bush is going to hold a lead for a few days. I suspect he got a strong sample last night added to the Kerry Tuesday scroll off.
Unlike other bumps in his numbers, this one looks stronger and not as transient and unexplained.
I hope you're right, but would love to see other polls support this as well.
Agreed.
Of greater interest perhaps are the other numbers on Rasmussen's site, such as the economic indices and questions regarding the WOT, handling Iraq, job approval and so forth. All of these numbers are up, with the economic indicators having gone up markedly in the last 2 weeks.
These are indicators that people are feeling better about things in general, and should translate to Bush doing better in the polls. The Generic Congress number has been improving too (not at +4 Dem - as opposed to +19 Dem according to LA Times).
Regarding the LA Times poll, "Bush is leading independents by three, ahead among Republicans by a larger margin than Kerry is ahead among Dems, and we are down by seven. Outrageous," senior adviser Matthew Dowd told NBC News in an e-mail.
"And it gets worse," Dowd continued. "They have Dems leading generic congressional ballot by 19. This means this poll is too Democratic by 10 to 12 points. Apparently the Los Angeles Times has uncovered a Democratic revolution in this country that has happened in the last 10 days."
testing tag line.....................
No, I predicted a few days ago that the pendulum seemed to show that Bush would get a little eldge now. At the lowest, Bush is down by one, and now he is up by three, which is the most I think he's been up for some time.
Don't get your hopes up...this is Rasmussen.
nice tag
I sure hope so, but since it is Rasmussen's poll, I am expecting a Kerry lead again by no later than Sunday.
I like it!
The press has taken a short vacation from their lies and slander. The question is whether they can pick up where they left off, and whether the American voters will continue to be influenced by their vile propaganda.
Kerry is going nowhere. The only reason it is even close is the full court press against Bush by the liars and slanderers in the press.
If approval rating hits over 55%, Bush will win. Lets hope that happens.
The democratic surrogates in the press would take Kerry out in a heartbeat if Hillary bats an eye.
Yes!
New tagline BUMP!!!

All I can say is thank God. I hope this is a good sign of things to come.
