LIVE THREAD--Reagan State Funeral Ceremony: Lying in State at the Rotunda (6/11/04)
Thanks.
Diffeent man, same reason.
I hear Dan Rather sobbing, and he finally sht up, his talkingover the camera for the first 45 minutes was disgraceful
Wonderful. Makes my heart swell.
God Bless President Reagan.
Absolutely!
It's definitely brightening up...and after the 40 tolls of the bell, now the "peal"...the stained glass inside the Cathedral is much more illumined now than it was during the service...
FNC did itself really proud for that entire service.
I had thought I would have to go to C-span but now have heard that c-span had calls during the service? Yipes.
Agreed. A live thread is exactly that. It's not a memorial thread. This is a "Oh my God, did you see that?!" thread.
Now, on a more serious note, Ronald Reagan was my first Commander-In-Chief when I was in the military. He was also someone who inspired me as a teenager in many ways - some of which I didn't recognize at the time. His optimism, his love and pride of country etc.. all played a part in making me who I am today. I may not take everything seriously, but I do take the important things seriously, and that is ALSO a lesson he toaught us all.
Just my humble opinions.
Farewell, President Reagan. We will continue to love you and miss you. Godspeed.
Classic, traditional, uplifting service.
Maggie Thatcher was brilliant. Brilliant.
Our world was better for those two.
Okay watching the funeral procession.
Does anyone else notice the hearse and all of the mercedes limos are riding on 20 inch rims?
A tape of this particular funeral could be marketable. An event I think. If not marketable then extemely shareable.. Extremely NOT boring..
I posted on another thread this morning that in 1983 there was a televised celebration from DC of Bob Hope's 80th Birthday. The Reagans, and much of official Washington, were in attendance. After Hope introduced Pres. Reagan, he stepped to the microphone, with that Irish twinkle in his eye, and said, "Imagine...Bob Hope -- 80 years old...I love it when he calls me 'Kid'."
QUITE SO.
THANKFULLY, BECAUSE OF THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST ON THAT CROSS,
AND HIS RESURRECTION TO PROVE WHO HE WAS AND AS CONQUERER OVER DEATH
WE HAVE HOPE--AND, WE CAN ALL, LOGICALLY, HAVE OUR OWN CHAT WITH RONNIE in eternity.
PRAISE GOD FOR CHRIST'S SALVATION!
40th President
I fear you are correct.......but President Reagan would tell us we were wrong. :)
And we would believe him when he said it.
I would love to have a copy. May I freepmail you with my name and address later?
I have been watching from the beginning. So many people loved and respected this man. I noticed the Clintons were sleeping off and on throughout the ceremony!
I fear you are right.
