U.S. Charges Australian Linked to al-Qaida
WASHINGTON - An Australian held at the Navy's prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, will face a military tribunal for allegedly training and fighting alongside members of al-Qaida in Afghanistan (news - web sites), the Pentagon (news - web sites) announced Thursday.

Purported Al-Qaeda Letter Cites Tough Struggle in Iraq, AP Says
June 15 (Bloomberg) -- A letter purportedly written by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, a terrorist linked to al-Qaeda, says his struggle in Iraq is getting harder because the U.S.-led coalition is tightening its grip, the Associated Press said.
``The space of movement is starting to get smaller,'' AP cited the letter as saying. ``The grip is starting to be tightened on the holy warriors' necks and, with the spread of soldiers and police, the future is becoming frightening.''
The nine-page unsigned statement, posted yesterday on Islamic Web sites, is entitled ``The Text of al-Zarqawi's message to Osama bin Laden about holy war in Iraq'' and hasn't been authenticated, AP said. Fighters in Iraq will intensify their attacks against police and soldiers who are the ``eye, ear and hand'' of the U.S.-led coalition, it cited the letter as saying.
U.S. military officials have said Zarqawi, a Jordanian, is orchestrating attacks from inside Iraq. The military command said he may be involved in the killing last month of Izzedine Salim, the leader of Iraq's interim Governing Council. The U.S. Central Intelligence Agency said he probably killed Nick Berg, a 26-year- old American who was kidnapped and beheaded in Iraq last month.
I've read with much interest your reports of the FBI ignoring reports of suspicious incidents, and your discussions regarding waterborne attacks by AQ.
The following is a post of mine from March 2003, on a thread about Iraqi sleeper cells, where I describe an incident I witnessed in June 2002.
Note that it was pretty much ignored by the feds, but not state officials.
----------------------------------------------------
On the weekend of around June 8-9 of last year, which is my birthday, my fiancee, best friend of 28 years and his family and I travelled to Lake West Point to camp and rent a pontoon boat for the weekend.
Lake West Point is a 30,000+ acre resevoir located on the Chattahoochie river, 90 miles or so downstream from Atlanta, and is kept backed up by a hydro-electric dam. Unlike Lake Lanier(which has humvees and helicopters patrolling it's dam) upstream and closer to Atlanta, West Point(has nothing patrolling it's dam) is probably 90% fisherman and very few pleasure boaters. I have been fishing there since the early 80's.
Since I knew the lake better than any else in our group, I was chosen to be dropped off at the marina to pick up the rental pontoon boat and would then navigate the 3 miles downriver to our campsite.
There are 2 bridges between the marina and the campground we were at. The first one is the hwy 109 bridge. As with all bridges, there is a state law that mandates a no-wake zone around them.
As I slowed the boat down to approach the bridge, I noticed something weird; a small 2 or 3 man bass boat approaching me from the opposite direction with what appeared to be 6 people in it.
I thought to myself,"Those guys are asking to get hassled by the game warden". As West Point has an abundance of game wardens eager to take your money over any infraction of the game or boating laws, especially an obviously over loaded boat.
Then, I noticed that the guys looked of middle eastern ancestry but not like the Indian and Pakistani gas station owners I had dealt with in my 5 year stint remodeling their stores.
They were all fully clothed in the broiling June heat, except for one who had a wet head and what looked like a wet suit on.
One other weird thing, as they passed the no wake bouy on the other side and throttled up their boat, their motor had a sound unlike any boat motor I have ever heard. And I have heard alot in my time.
At the time, I thought the incident odd but no big deal. Probably just some college students doing experiments or something. Although I had never before seen Middle Easterners out at West Point or any other lake, Atlanta has a large population of them so it wasn't out of the question.
The following Monday, we were back at home and I was catching up on my missed freeptime from the weekend. The first thread I clicked on was about ME's being seen taking pics of dams, resevoirs and other realted objects and something clicked in my birthday beer riddled brain.
I freepmailed a poster on that thread and told him what I saw and asked him if he thought I should report this to the feds in Atlanta. He advised me to call the feds and to file a report with the local police.
I called the local FBI office and after leaving a message, received a call back within 15 minutes.
After spending the first 5 minutes explaining to the nice lady exactly what and where Lake West Point was, I then told her what I saw. She asked if I would be willing to come to the office and make a statement and I said yes but that never happened and I haven't heard from them since.
I then called the local sheriff and told him. He contacted the feds and asked if they wanted him to take a statement from me, and they replied that it wasn't neccesary at this time.
My last call was to the game warden post on West Point. They were very interested in what I had to say and asked to come down to the office and talk face to face, which I did. There were also two GBI agents present.
With all the continued talk of these events occuring, I felt compelled to share this with you freepers that have been following the Iraqi-terror connections closely.
I know that Georgia isn't considered a priority target like NYC or Washington D.C., but they have arrested several people in connection to terror investigations here. There was a round up of mall jewelry kiosk operators and there was a guy caught in a motel room across from the CDC with fake ID's and stolen credit cards.

(1010 WINS) EAST WINDSOR, Conn. -- University of Connecticut officials were performing a necropsy to determine what killed five calves at an East Windsor farm.
A neighbor called police Sunday afternoon to report that someone was attempting to bury five cows in a field, the Journal Inquirer of Manchester reported.
A sixth calf had a fever and was being treated with antibiotics, East Windsor animal control officer John Patsky said.
Patsky said there were no signs of mad cow disease. He said he has never seen anything similar before.
"There's no markings on them," Patsky told WFSB-TV. "It's got to be some type of disease."
Patsky said the eight mature cows in the herd appeared healthy. He said it could have been something the three- to four-month old calves ate or drank, or a bacteria or virus.
Results of the necropsy were expected Tuesday afternoon at the earliest.
Patsky notified the state Department of Public Health.
Ray Jones, who lives near the Harrington Road farm, said the cows were making a lot of noise over the weekend.
"A lot of mooing. It was loud," Jones said. "I live five doors down and I could hear it like it was in my backyard. And it went on all day long. I wasn't just something that went on for a few minutes."
The owner of the farm was reportedly in South Africa and returning to Connecticut. Patsky said the owner, whom he would not name, hired a part-time caretaker to tend to the beef herd, and the caretaker was very upset about the deaths.
Karen Grava, a spokeswoman for UConn, said she could not immediately comment on the testing. One calf was taken to a veterinary laboratory on the Storrs campus for the examination.

Glad to hear you made it back safely. Missed your market updates!
Nothing new on the market front. Gold still in holding position around $386.

I agree completely with this. They have every right to be and I expect it.
Thanks for the update!
Incident at Philadelphia Airport (Tuesday, June 15th)
June 15, 2004 Philadelphia and airport police were busy this morning as they recalled three flights and held up several more.
Three teenage girls were found by an employee in a an elevator of a restricted area. A search of the area uncovered a starter pistol hidden in a women's restroom.
Three flights that were taxiing out were brought back to terminal A East, disembarked, and the passengers re-screened.
The incident started at about 6:15am. A total of 3,000 customers were re-screened. The incident was considered secure at 7:30am. The three girls are currently being questioned.
Glad you had a safe trip...welcome back. See post 1130
Great advice MD. Those of us who live in earthquake country practice this routine everytime we go to the mall. Or I should say those of us that have brains practice these safety cautions.
Never park in an underground parking lot. NEVER
Stay away from crowded areas. Food courts or by easy access exits where cars/trucks can drive up and blow up.
Go during off times when not so crowded. (they probably will hit where they get the most bang for their buck)
Never stray far from a safe exit and always know where they are. (I know where exits are here no matter where I go) You have to mentally make yourself think about this....think about a panic scenario happening. What would be the first thing you do to escape. What if the store exit you just passed is where something just exploded or a chemical agent was released? Do you know where the next exit is? Most small stores that are on ground level have back exits for deliveries.
Last but not least, my new advise is don't go to the mall. I order online.
Thanks for the links, did you add this to thecabals backup site? I have a folder started there for Philly incidents.
I be interested to know the description of the teenage girls. And what's up with the Mason/Islamic connection? I don't get it.
Everybody should be cognizant of the different types of military helicopters which have their own specialized missions. Seeing them in numbers or at certain times can help you figure out what's happening and to whom.
Reposting my earlier comment on configuration: The type of chopper could be significant. Do you remember if they had two very large rotors above a "mast" front and rear? That would be a cargo bird like a CH-47. These can haul one or two HumVees or a platoon of (40 or so) troops. It is somewhat ungainly and elongated. It sort of reminds one of a grasshopper. BUT a chopper with ONE HUGE overhead rotor and a smaller rotor perpendicular off a tail boom might be a "Pave Low" and those are used by Special Operations guys. Did you notice colors or camoflage patterns? Things for everybody to watch for in the future.
In the link, the drawing is the CH-47 and the photos are the Pave Low SpecOps bird.
From what I recall regarding the Masonic/Islamic connection...they bombed a Masonic Lodge in Turkey earlier this year. One of the reasons they gave was that they were trying to get rid of the evil masons; who they believe are a hidden group who run governments behind the scenes.
Regarding the description of the girls...this is probably another of those stories that will probably disappear with no futher info.
the cabals backup site. more info?
That's exactly what I was thinking.
Do any of you remember the Flash Airline crash and the Egyptian pilot Ashraf Hamid who was aboard when it crashed into the Red Sea killing all aboard? He was a member of the Freemasons in San Diego where there is a large muslim membership. That whole incident left more questions than answers. Made me wonder why they want to belong to that group which appears on it's face as being the opposite of what islam is.
Of course, since I didn't save the article entirely the link I saved is no longer available on Sign On San Diego's site. They were the only ones to bring that part of his life up. He had family in Canada, plus an ex wife who lives near me.
Here are the only links that are still good on that incident.
