I dunno, sounds like.....life.

Wonder if it sounds like mom pre-birth? The echos...& yet the quiet.

I think they can lay in the rotunda by special congressional order .. but I don't think anybody gets a state funeral except a president or vice president.

Susanville is in Northern California. About 80 miles north west of Reno Nevada. We are close to the sierra mountains.

I want to see us out of the UN and France out of NATO. Chirac's comeuppance will come in the form of the food for oil revelations. That will be a beautiful thing.

To those mentioning Kerry's appearance - he went to Simi because he will be a very tiny minnow in a huge ocean tomorrow. Then he has Clinton coming out with the book and documentary of lies next week.

According to an earlier Reuters report posted by Yahoo News, DC's Metro subway system hit a record 850,636 trips on Wednesday alone. That's trips, not people. Factor in other modes of transportation, and I'd wager well over a couple of million were lining the route from Andrews to the Capitol or standing in line to go into the Rotunda. Current estimates by the Capitol Hill police are that about 250,000 people (the average folks waiting in line, not counting dignitaries and congressional staffers) will make it through the Rotunda in 30-some hours available for public viewing. The outpouring of respect from the people is breathtaking and, for me, at least, heartwarming. (I'm absolutely sure the people who least expected this were the elite media and Hollywood.)

You may be correct. Seems these tear blurred eyes have cleared enough to see a CIB above his ribbons.

Both HEROES!

Chirac, in French politics, is actually a man of the right.

Which means he's somewhere between Lenin and Castro.

that was probably why he hurried in and out, it sure was not to respect the general public.

Did anyone else hear Brit this evening. He had a lady on talking about the Reagan family. He commented that Michael was all the way in the back during the service at the Rontda. She remarked that the family was still very disfunctional. At the service in California, when Nancy went up to the coffin, Patti comforted her, then Ron came up. Michael stayed behind. After they all left, Michael had his quite moments with his dad.

I had noticed this too, yesterday. The other observation was that Michael did not ride with Nancy and the other two children.

I don't know who the lady was that Brit had on tonight, but Brit commented that it was obvious that Micahel was left behind. She even said that Nancy did not like Micahel. If all of this is true, it must be doubly painful that Michael is going through this without Maureen, who would be their to help provide him comfort.

That picture of Micahel, alone taken at 5:00 AM this morning, by the AP is even more sad.

I was expecting that yesterday, but the music was so loud and there were so many bands, you really couldn't hear the drums or the horses.

I watched it all on C-SPAN yesterday and their coverage was a little different. You only heard the music when they where showing the bands and military formations. When they showed the caisson and caprisoned horse, you only heard the drums and the horses hoofbeats. I think the other networks were airing the music the whole time, but the bands were way ahead of the caisson.

Reverence doesn't do it for me. I realize it has some symbolism and there is a reason it is done. Where did it originate--what is behind it--and I am sure there is a history behind this slow cadence. Thanks anyway.

I think you are right but I couldn't find it anywhere. I would think the State Funeral would only be for the President or Vice President.
