My emotions are, in a word, overwhelmed.

The Rev. Daniel Coughlin's characterization of President Reagan's presidency having been nothing more than a skillful "act" was disgraceful!

I just finished an evening of celebrating my nephew's 13'th birthday. He learned more tonight than he will ever learn. I cried out loud. He brought me tissues.

Does anyone know the number of DUngers to FReepers. Do they have more people or do we?What brought that on?
As far as I can see, there are far more freepers than DUh'ers, as far as internet forum registrations go.

President Kenny lying in state with wreathes. I was tempted to insert a South Park quote here, but, thankfully, my better nature prevailed. Oh my heck, I really did write Kenny instead of Kennedy.
You have to understand that I just got back from a jewelry auction and was surrounded by millions of dollars of jewels. I get all flustered for days after these kinds of events.

I believe that Iraq will find its way, better than expected, and that we will have a victory out of it all. President Bush especially, will have achieved something that was feared especially by the French and other socialists who have resisted the opportunities for Iraq, that they, the socialists, have claimed to be for people everywhere else.
I believe that the self-determination, that has been infused, encouraged, taught, and shown by example, by our armed forces under great duress while maintaining good will toward the Iraqi people, such that the plain humanity of such good will gives rise to the passion in those who observe it, for doing something worthy, will, among the Iraqis themselves, in contrast to how such ambitions were repeated exterminated by Saddam Hussein, prove to be infectious.
Bush, in other words, is going to win one for the Gipper.

I'm posting a ping to #1268 because I think that camera shot from above, looking down at the flag-draped casket on the caisson with the flag at half-mast in the foreground, is the one picture that will burn in my mind about this day.

The caisson is the same ont used for JFK. The dias the coffin rests on is the same as JFK and Lincoln.
I can't remember the right term, dias is not correct.

I didn't realize it was that old. It isn't. The caisson only dates back to 1918. I think it is the same one used for JFK, Ike and LBJ (at least). The older connection is the stand on which the coffin sits in the Capital. That dates back to Lincoln. Also, the first Presidential funeral using a riderless horse with backwards boots was Lincoln.

Thanks for the crowd estimate. WABC is reporting that "thousands" watched the procession.

Wonderful .. I watched hours of the coverage, and on different channels, but everytime I saw them .. Michael and his family were placed behind and there seemed to be no connections between them and Ron and Patti. Michael just adored his Dad. God bless them all.
Hole, your comment is wacky. "drooling?" ... Where's your head at? This is totally not in keeping with the comment I made, nor the spirit in which it was made.
